Just wondering what the Husker faithful and other volleyball experts think will happen at Nebraska after Pavan moves on. Larson will be a senior, Cooper and Holloway will be juniors, and the 07 class (middle blocker Brooke Delano (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West), right side hitter Lindsey Licht (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) and outside hitters Tara Mueller (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) and Danielle Minch (Sterling, Colo./Sterling)will be sophomores . Also, Cook has commitments from two 5"11 outside hitters in 08 (Haverly and James). I don't see any Pavans or Larsons on this list, but what do "those in the know" really think.

Danielle Minch ! A 6'2" middle blocker from Sterling Colorado that they plan on moving to outside. Very powerful and explosive player. Her athleticism and arm swing are very similar to Houghtellings. Lindsey Licht also has the potential for greatness. Great blocker.

I guess someone has to talk about this eventually, but I figured it could have waited until next year. After all, Pavan still has one year to go, but discuss anyway.

It's the same question every year, Life after WEston, Life after Cepero, life after Meandering. YOu don't replace kids that good, but there is always talent, and success breeds success.

Life after Pavan in 2008 is a rebuilding year. The loss of Pavan is huge, but they will also lose Houghtelling and Stalls. Basically, they lose their top middle, their opposite, and one of their outside hitters. While no one really stands out like Pavan on this list, the talent is there. However the game time may not be. So it may be a year or two before they get back to national title contention but the talent is there to build on.

I hate to say it Husker fans, but after Pavan, Houghtelling, and Stalls, your record will be 0-28, thereabouts. Very unappealing, I know. But you will be thanking me in the future for "keeping it real...woof woof!" (this reminds me, when does American Idol start?)

A runner-up finish last year, a National Championship this year, and a probable FF appearance next year will boost their chances with top recruits for the next five years. We don't see the big names for 2008/2009 yet, but I doubt Nebraska is going to fall off the map any time soon. Quite the contrary, when California finally has "the big one" and literally falls off the map, all the top recruits will go to Nebraska, Minnesota, Texas, and Florida every year. BASTA will become BANTA, and American U will become the new Nebraska.

Life in Nebraska after Pavan and Houghtelling just won't be worth living. There will be mass suicides and murders. Those fans who survive will be moving to states just to have a decent team to support. The Nebraska economy will fail dragging down several border states along with it. Those will take down the states around them and eventually the entire democratic society will collapse in total anarchy.
OR
Nebraska will just continue to produce other stellar athletes and other athtletes around the nation (and beyond) who want to play at a perennial nationial contender will come and be turned into exceptional volleyball players and we'll still be one of the top programs in the country.

All over keyboard. So, it could go either way, eh? Hmmmm. Tough call, that...

I am looking forward to Pavan's graduation so she can hurry up and attend Med School so she can be my wife's pediatrician.

I am just guessing, but I think the NCAA will probably make Nebraska's road to the Final Four in 2008 a little easier than it probably should be. They will be good, but it probably will be a rebuilding year for them.

With Pavan, Houghtelling, Stalls and Larson back, they most certainly can repeat as champions with a 28-0 record! By the way, speaking of American Idols, I just came back from seeing "Pursuit of Happiness." Jasmine Trias was there seeing the movie too.

Yes, they will be loaded next year with one All-American after another, and not to mention 2 National POYs. They will be very physical and powerful at the net.
And speaking of American Idol, Ms. Jennifer Hudson is getting some buzz on her performance in "DreamGirls." Even outshines Beyonce Knowles. As everybody knows "DreamGirls" is based on "THE SUPREMES" only the names have been changed. The infighting between the girls in the group, and favoritism by Jamie Fox's character based on Barry Gordy on the Diana Ross based character played by Beyonce Knowles.
