Lopez to NDSU? Are you sure? Or are you thinking of her sister? Gophers have at least 2 scholarships for 2008, maybe more. It's tricky because they aren't using all of their 2007 allotment (nor did they in 2006). Nor do we know who's coming back yet. To answer jlo's question, there's a domino effect in all this. Some players are worth waiting for -- and man can that be a problem if they commit elsewhere (e.g. Pavan and Hodge). So it's not that strange and yes about the top players signing elsewhere. If they're willing to wait. The other thing that can happen is a program takes the players willing to commit and so sorry if so-and-so then tells them she wanted to commit, too. Lopez is listed at the link below. And I just saw a post about her (and her sister) playing together for the Bison. About coming back, you have to wonder if D. Jackson will stick around. A good backup, esp if no other middles are recruited for '08. Are there others rumored to not be coming back? Are we too heavy at OH? girlsvolleyballrecruit.blogspot.com/2006/08/verbalssignings.htmlKelly Schmidt will be a senior in 08 so we will still have her.

That post is dated 8/10/06. I'm still not convinced Lopez has verballed to NDSU.

Brittany Chambers of Jordan was named to the top 25 Sophs list on prepvolleyball.com She's a 5'9 OH. She was the only Minnesotan on the list. Hopefully another Malama for us someday....

J. Lopez did commit to NDSU in mid November. The Fargo Forum had a big article on it but unfortunately it is now in the archives and cost money to get it. Here is a link to the NDSU board talking about it www400.pair.com/bisonvil/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1163744894 Playing with here sister was a big factor plus it didn't sound like she was getting the national interest some thought she might. I can't remember exactly the other schools she was considering but they we're MAC type not major conference. She said MN was not recruiting her.

Where was Kelly last year? Hurt? And has the NDSU program stabilized? Seems like it was a train wreck after Bina was let go (which I still don't get).
