Walsh or Folkl...but I gotta go with Walsh. She should've been POY, even though just a frosh.

Sarah Pavan. Even though her team choked, she still was a stud her freshmen year...

Yes, Walsh -- jaw dropping talent out of HS. Logan Tom also very solid with great all around skills.

Walsh has to be it. She had amazing numbers during freshman year alongside with Fokl that year. And look where she's at now. Of course we don't know how the rest of the younger kids will do, but hard to stack up against a 2 time world champion and one of the only two women to win an olympic gold in volleyball for the US.

Stacey Gordon from Ohio State University was the National Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year and helped her team to a 27-4 overall season and a 17-3 season in the Big Ten in 2001. She also was an AA that same year. She's gone on to a pretty notable career herself, adding a litany of awards to her resume, including two National titles at the professional level (so far).

How about some consideration for the players from the 80s?
One of the Oden sisters?
One of the UCLA players? Liz Masakayan? Nathalie Williams?
One of the Hawaii players? Tee Sanders?
One of the LBSU players? Danielle Scott?
etc...

6 posts and Hodge not mentioned at all. I think she would be in that class. Big Ten POY, AA, National FOY, offensive leader of top 5 team.

Sarah Pavan. Even though her team choked, she still was a stud her freshmen year... Just because you continue to say something doesn't make it so. The game to which you were referring occurred against USC, one of the greatest teams in recent volleyball history. Nebraska extended them to five games, winning games one and four in OT 35-33 and 36-34 before losing the last game 15-12. Your favs should be so successful. I don't know what your gripe is about NU, but it smacks of jealosy. If you continue to act like a jerk, I'll try to continue to call attention to your inadequacies.

I didn't see her name on the poll. Not sure "concerned" would be the right word. Nothing on this board really "concerns" me, interests, maybe.

You are thinking of a different USC team. 2004 USC was NOT the same team as 2003 USC. 2003 USC had 3 four-year starters in Toni Anderson, Katie Olsovsky, and April Ross.....not to mention one of the nations best liberos in Nicole Davis. They lost 4 of their 7 most important players, and were the #8 seed in the NCAAs, Nebraska was #1.

I didn't vote for her because I voted for Walsh. My point was she wasn't in any discussions, I think she is worthy of being in the group discussed.

They lost 4 of their 7 most important players, and were the #8 seed in the NCAAs, Nebraska was #1. And because of that they are labeled chokers, simply because they were seeded too high and USC was probably seeded too low. At any rate, regardless everyone that knew anything volleyball knew that USC provided the biggest matchup problems with Nebraska. In addition Nebraska was starting a second year setter with the 5-1, (a setter who only set 1 year in high school) a sophomore Libero, 3 OH's that were freshman and sophomores, and two juniors. 4/6 players on the floor in any rotation were true sophomores and freshman. The second MB was only playing because Stalls was injured. Nebraska had their own problems to deal with. USC had the advantage in terms of experience and being the two time defeniding national champions. But we can agree this certainly wasn't the best USC team of all time.
