Is the Bay Area still going for the '16 Olympics? Sorry I'm late on these things. I know that Los Angeles is though.

It was too hot, they had dirty construction sand, and poor attendance. They had to delay the PM pools of the Cal Finals and offer free admission to get people in the seats. ....They call it beach volleyball not desert volleyball. You're right about the totally uninviting venue. I'd been next door at the Cal Finals that afternoon, and I just went home. It was too hot to sit out in the sun.

To blastingsand; SF dropped the Olympic bid when one of the stadium issues came up; I believe when the 49ers said they were moving to Santa Clara. Sounded likean excuse to escape a losing effort, as the Santa Clara stadium is nowhere near a done deal.
