What is going on at Utah is absolutely sickening to me. A great program and coaching staff on the verge of greatness is basically being sabotage. Is USA volleyball to blame? A lot will be learned AFTER we find out what school these two end up at. That will tell us A LOT! GREAT article written about this..... dotyoureye.blogspot.com/

So I have a question. If the alleged statements are true and those things were said, what part of what was said is not true??? It is a weak conference and they don't play against the best players. Secondly, I would be offended that a blogger thinks I'm so stupic that flip comments would actually cause me to transfer. Is is possible that the kid actually went to the tryout happy with her utopian life, and suddenly decided to transfer because of someones comments. I hear comments from players all the time that they don't play against the best competition and they don't play against the best players, but they like their school. There is no need to go somewhere else. If I was Tom Pingle I would have my lawyer on speed dial right now. This blogger has gone overboard.

Interesting... who was at the A2 tryouts, as in top D-1 coaches?

The blog is writing based on what the mom said in a newspaper article. That's all. And I think he's joking about USA volleyball crumbling. That's kind of the theme of the site.

If these Kids want to play for a national championship and become Olympians, they're not gonna do it at Ohio State or Texas A&M. In fact, there is only a small number of teams that would apply.

Wow, that is truly sad for Beth Launiere.
So it turns out that Shannon Krug didn't need to transfer at all since Sydney Anderson bailed out. I bet she's thrilled.
And then Arial Salvo. How disappointing. She was recruited by so many D1 top 10 schools, but she CHOSE Utah. I remember reading interviews of her saying that she's always wanted to be a Ute, and because her mother played there, etc...
Now her mother decides to change her priorities, which is understandable if you want your daughter to excel to a higher level of volleyball, but you know, I think that intergrity and loyalty should count for something.
At most, I can see Arial joining that long list of liberos for the national team, but for sure, not an outside hitter on an international level.

Stoney has been at this an awful long time, he can be caustic but I don't think he meddles like what supposedly happen. Paula has no horse in this race. Matt was an assistant at Utah for crying out loud. He probably put these kids on the Utah recruiting list. I don't know Robin, but the previous poster was right, TAMU is not a team that you can count on to finish top five in the NCAA's every year. Curiouser and curiouser.

The mom quote actually says staff, so I don't think it was one those coaches. Aren't there usually a bunch of evaluators and such at those tryouts? www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_5661181

True, but since they have named coaches of the A2 team, they are also considered staff.
I don't know who had been there working the tryout so I would think that the words of the coaches would carry more weight. But what the hell do I know.

How plausible is it that the mother asked the A-2 team's "staff" if Utah was likely to be good enough to wiin a national championship if her daughter were to stay with the team through her senior year?
One or more staff member gives an honest opinion that while Utah is a good and nationally ranked program the odds of Utah winning a national championship are not very high because they don't play against against enough highly ranked teams during the season.
Leaving the mother open to claiming the staff said "They're not playing against top players in top conferences." and in turn getting many people "reading into" the statements to think that the US national team(s) staff members are interfering with players and the program's they're playing for when they try out for one of the national teams.

I agree with Pessquenebeg that we are making a lot of assumptions with only hearing a sliver of the reasons why they are transferring. While we may not personally agree with the motives for the transfer, we don't know the whole story.

Maybe they just are not good enough. Didn,t Erica Lott from BYU in the same "weak" conference make the team ?
