I read Doug Beal on Rollshot said Brad Keenan, Curt Topell, Chris Tamas, Jose Quinones, and Sean Rooney may get a shot at the 2004 Olympics. But he also said they were long shots.
Anybody disagree with him? Who do you think has a [glow=green,2,300]REALISTIC[/glow] shot at making the team?

While the other guys are older, Sean Rooney made a great impression on the Olympic coaches with his dedication and hard work. He ended up traveling with the National Team a lot more than they had planned on. Although since he is young, they may wait until 2008 for him. Look for Keenan to make the team. Toppel may also be included in the mix.

Don't forget about the World University Games this year too. That is a good training ground for our future Olympians.

Doug Beal has been making his rounds , scouting the players for the future . Based on info received , he has a very good eye for young talent , and will put the best players on the court he can at all levels. He was present at Pepperdines' last two home games and he was seen at The Pyramid too . Looking forward to seeing the new names when the teams are announced , and good luck to the National teams at all levels !!!!!!

So when does Doug pick the team for the games? And when are they?

I don't know when they pick the team. The Game's will be held this summer and the team will train in Co. Springs. Here is a link from the USA Volleyball website - it is the selection procedures. The games are every other year. www.usavolleyball.org/natteams/wugselection.pdf

Rollshot.com is no longer at their URL. I'm hesitant to paste the article here.
I'll answer some questions if you're curious though.

Hmmmmmm, I'm wondering who is posting under my name... CUZ IT WASN'T ME! However, I'll somewhat have to agree with myself... Doug has been at the Pepperdine games and is looking to include Keenan in 2004, I would also imagine if Toppel heals nicely he'd be included. I wouldn't be surprised if Rooney is invited to practice this summer... but so far I haven't heard any plans of Rooney to postpone school for an entire year (which would be necessary to compete in the Olympics)... look for Rooney in 2008!
