Iowa State at #16 is interesting. They have losses to Middle Tennessee and Creighton (both at home) to start off the season, a loss to New mexico and to Arizona State. They also lost to Texas, but hey, that's a great loss. The MTSU and Creighton matches were played without Manns (starting setter). The first four losses you mention were in the first 5 matches (1-4). Since then, ISU is 9-1 (just 2-0 at home) with the lone loss being at Texas. Yeah, #16 seems high. I'd take #23-29, though. As a Big 12 / Valley guy I had the opportunity to watch the Iowa State vs Creighton match. Yes ISU was without Manns but I was way more impressed with what Creighton did. ISU had all preseason to prepare to play without Manns. Creighton lost their best player about 10 points into the match and still rolled them. To me that was much more impressive having to adjust physically and emotionally on the road at the spur of the moment. I do think ISU is a very good team and I'm not surprised their coach has them going in the right direction. Very impressed with what she is doing at ISU.
