is osborne a good move? i mean whoever they bring in now as the coach will have him in the athletic dept. looking over his shoulder constantly. doesn't really sound like an environment for success if you ask me. and is there anyone with a stoops like resume out there?

Tom Osborne immediately re-establishes trust and credibility throughout the state, especially with boosters. If T.O. picks up the phone, people take out their checkbooks. This is not just a great move, its the only move. I am sure Tom is doing this out of service for the University.

yeah, i can't remember where i read that at, it may have been in an Omaha World Herald article some years back, they always do an article on the financials of the athletic dept and it might have been in there Not only a profit, a net of $1 million for the athletic department. The problem is that they have to use it for other sports, so Hawai'is budget isn't nearly as big as it could be for volleyball.

I'm guessing this is a reference to Lawrence Phillips, the WR Muhommad?, Terrell Farley, etc

Might have had something to do with it, i think he saw the handwritting on the wall with the Big 12 formed and that the once so dominate NU football program would never be at that dominate level the way they once were, i think that was prob the main reason, he wanted to go out on top instead of on the downfall, but i don't think he saw it falling this far....hell i don't think anyone did

Lawrence Phillips, that's a name I haven't heard in a while. What a monumental waste of talent. This was a guy that was given second, third, and even fourth chances to succeed and he blew them all.
Last I heard I think he's facing 20 years of prison time.

I would think Nebraska would be embarassed to have so many players in trouble. I mean...why can't we have players with great reputations like OJ Simpson. He didn't kill anyone until after graduating.
