According to Wisc. Web site it sounds like Pete Waite is predicting a win over Penn State. Penn State probably shouldn't show up Sunday what with the crowd and a focused Badger team.

PSU will obviously show up, and you should be above comments about teams playing. I'm sure Waite never said anything along the lines of a guaranteed win or sure thing.

The problem with that is that the way the B10 is going this year a team can play poorly one night and great the next. I would imagine PSU is embarressed by the way they played tonight and will play much better against UW. I think UW is more consistant but I think PSU has more potential. I think UI actually hurt UW's chances. We showed them they can lose. UW is a better team than UI so PSU knows they better play a lot harder. On the other hand UI might have found a weakness in PSU unknown before.
If UW thinks it's going to be easy based on tonight I predict a PSU victory. I think a major part of tonight was that PSU overlooked us, They're not going to overlook UW. I think UW CAN win but so can PSU. Should be a great match.

It was a very modest appraisal of his team's chances, that's all.

No way does Wisconsin think Sunday's match with PSU is going to be easy. I'm sure both players and fans are expecting a real dogfight. PSU already knows they can lose in Madison, it didn't take tonight's game with Illinois to tell them that. They can't already have forgotten their last meeting, and the Badgers are a better team than last year. And the Badgers, who have beaten Penn State exactly once in the last four seasons, know they'll have to play their best to win this match. So you're going to have two teams who respect each other's level of play, and I believe nobody on either squad is going to take anything for granted. I'm just very glad this match is at the Field House.... nice effort by your Illini, by the way.

I was actually replying to the so called quote of the UW coach. I was very impressed by UW's mindset when they played here. On the other hand it took a game 5 for PSU to crack down. UW didn't get rattled when we were giving them problems, PSU did. I think PSU has more raw talent but I really like UW's consistant play and think you have the edge at setter.
There should be a ton of block's. PSU set a Huff record and I think the UW block was the big difference in our match. IF you can get it past their block I thought their back row was a weakness. The passing was good but sometimes they just slow/out of posistion.

Twenty five blocks is pretty impressive. On the other hand, getting outdug 82-54 isn't. I am guessing PSU will play a lot better in Madison. They probably relaxed after taking the 2-0 lead, and the Illini, to their credit, then took it to them. Of course, the Lions then pulled it out in the end. There is a reason why they win the Big Ten so much, despite their obvious talent.
As for the Illini, they have been so close this season, but things haven't gone their way a lot. They need to find a way to win those game fives. It is a great sign for them that Alde stepped up and played well. That would really help them if she can give them a third option behind DeBruler and Brown. Illini fans are probably frustrated, but the program is obviously heading back toward where they want to be.

UI has it backwards this year. They're 4-1 on the road and 0-4 at home. Plus 1-6 in game 5.
Alde's had some good matches this year.
Our big problems seem to be hitting errors and getting out blocked. That's what killed us against you guys. I believe we outdug UW also. That's a lot of points to give up despite playing well in other areas.
I thought it was a good thing that the players seemed mad about losing. There's been year's past when losing seemed to be shruged off.

Despite the loss for the Illini and their fans, this was a fun match to watch. Illinois played superior defense and the Lions put on a blocking clinic. Yes, the five game losses are frustrating. On the other hand, it's encouraging that Illinois is forcing five game matches playing with three freshmen and bodes well for the future. McCulley will help when she returns to the lineup. They would have won some of these matches with Turner or McCulley.
Sunday's match should be good fun. If the Badgers play solid defense, they should win.

Speaking of UW's victory over PSU - after I read before the end of the MN match against OSU that UW had swept PSU I was happy about the UW victory but I knew PSU would play a lot tougher against MN the next night
The MN / PSU match did have PSU player not making the error that they makes against UW the night before. MN ended up losing in a close 5th game.
I think PSU allowing UI to take them to 5 games in tonight's match could have a similar result.
UW could still very well win the match at the Fieldhouse but I certainly don't expect a sweep by either team and I'd love to see the match.
I hope there is a videocast available from UW.

I would certainly think this season would be much different with a healthy Turner and McCulley. Turner was becoming a top LS and McCulley would have started the season as L2. So we've been without both our season starting LS's. Now DeBruler is better than McCulley but McCulley would be ahead of an injured Palash and freshman Kump who came in as a MB. A Turner/DeBruler combo at LS would be one of the best in the B10.
