I love the media. They are willing to say things when others of us won't. The article on Carlos is in "The Daily Herald" for those who want to read it. I can't find the link. No matter what anyone says, this is a serious loss for the cougars although I think Rob is a great setter. Carlos equals leadership, experience and intimidation. A bummer for Carlos also.

Now it is for real! Mark my words.....the setter job will be changing throughout the year!

So what's the media saying that we supposedly aren't willing to say?

So why is he a "non-qualifying" foreign student this season? And why won't the NCAA grant him a fourth year? And most importantly... Do we need to dig into previous years? Haha. Drama. Gotta love it.

Will we be getting a more specific explanation of why he is being shut out for the year? Is this why Steffin transferred? He and Carlos were good friends. Anyone have a better explanation than the article?

You can read so many different things into the article. It's written the way it is, in vague terms, because there's something they want to hide. HAAHAHA. Oh the speculation. The only one who'll have a good line on this whole 'academic' situation is the compliance director. It's too bad. But Rob will have no problem, if he is deemed to be the most suitable choice, which I think he is right now.
As far as Rangel goes, I thought he'd be an Alleman type, only in the way that Jon sat his first couple of years and then earned a position and was a great contributor. I thought Stef would do the same thing at BYU. No matter, though, there are many who are willing to carry the torch.

So why is he a "non-qualifying" foreign student this season? And why won't the NCAA grant him a fourth year? There's a new NCAA rule that says an athlete must be making progress toward a degree, and it's quantifiable. It sounds like he did not meet this criteria.

Here we go..... 1st...this is NOT a new rule. For the protection of the student athlete, this rule has been around for a long time. 2nd...wasn't Moreno investigated last year for this same thing? (I hope i am wrong) BYU special rules coming in play again? I would just like to know why Hawaii and Lewis got NCAA-spanked, and BYU gets this special treatment? Moreno was ok last year...but not this year? This smells! Where is a good investigational reporter when you need one?

It has to do with his school credits and progress. He didn't complete the required amount of credits to be granted a fourth year. Had he done it they would have allowed him to compete this year. To bad you guys got spanked on the wrist because our banners sure look nice. ;D

DON'T WORRY, BYU will get whats coming to them! This little "academic" issue with Carlos is just a way to get everyone's eyes off the fact that the guy was a pro in Brazil before he even went to BYU. BYU's compliance dept. is REALLY GOOD! If they don't let him play this year, HIS LAST YEAR, they appear to be really concerned with proper compliance and then everyone will assume that they were legal LAST YEAR, THUS saving their championship! But there IS VIDEO TAPE OUT THERE, trust me, I HAVE WATCHED IT! The guy played PRO, and their title should be stripped just as Hawaii's and Lewis. Fair is fair, and if the NCAA is going to be consistant, then they better TAKE A HARD CLOSE LOOK INTO THE BYU PROGRAM! McGown was a shady guy, and everyone thinks cuz he is older and works with USA volleyball and seems all distinguished and all, that "he would never intentionally break any NCAA rules". THINK AGAIN! BYU had 3 professional players on the court playing against LEWIS in the 2003 championship. From what i can tell, Lewis only had 2 pros. McGown recruited all those players. So now BYU has decided to sacrifice Carlos's last season, IN AN EFFORT TO SAVE THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP from last year. HOPE THEY DON'T GET AWAY WITH IT. GO BRUINS!

Oh no someone else has the video, and Bruinboy has seen it! Just like everyone else that saw it last year around the time we played the Bruins in Cali. Please don't show it. Let me guess. You got recruited to UCLA five years ago and was promised at least one NCAA national championship because history showed that it would happen. Well it didn't... HA HA. Have fun with your video.
