I finally watched this Jim Carey/Kate Winselt film. Nothing new. For its theme (People fall in love with who they fall in love with, despite all their flaws, and they just can't help themselves), it's mildly interesting. It's similar to other memory manipulation/modification/deletion movies like:
Vanilla Sky/Open Your Eyes Happy Accidents
Of these, "Happy Accidents" (with Vincent D'onofrio and Marisa Tomei) is the best movie. Go rent it! Very very underrated movie. Much better film.
I think, but I'm not sure, "Open Your Eyes" was based on/inspired by the sci-fi short story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" (Philip K. Dick) Movies are just catching up with the literary world. Writers have been writing about the dynamics of memory (and their unreliability) for years.
