I think you're confusing "Atonement" with "American Pie" by Don MacEwan.

Also, Ruffda, I didn't mention this in one of the Minnesota threads, but you should stop using "IMHO." You don't have to even say "IMO" or "in my opinion" because every post you make is your opinion. And why distinguish IMO from IMHO. Did you not have an honest opinion? My two bits.
And the "Atonement" movie should be interesting. It won't be a blockbuster, but interesting nonetheless.

I don't recall ever using "IMHO", but thanks for the advice. It's interesting because I always thought it stood for "I make hippies obsolete".
Well, IBAMU!

I hated the war section (Part 2, I think?) in "Atonement." I was absolutely positively bored there.

It's quite poignant in hindsight, however.
That's just my ever so humble opinion, of course. Disagree if you must, but bear that in mind, because I wouldn't pretend to be such an expert that my opinion would be better than your opinion.
Part 3 was the war section, too. That's why there are four parts. TJMESHPOCDIYMBBTIMBIWPTBSAETMOWBBTYO.

"Atonement" wasn't THAT sad. I was never taken with the couple (forgot their names) so I didn't feel anything when Briony's act turned their lives upside down. I didn't like Briony, either.

I'm not so much talking about the story, which is sad in itself. I'm talking about its overall view of life and memories. Incredibly sad. As if all is as transitory as the water on the path by the fountain.
Damn. You just made me depressed again.

I'm currently reading "Running with Scizzors" Augusten Burroughs
The movie of this book should be very entertaining.

As if all is as transitory as the water on the path by the fountain. What? My fountain has no path. It's circular: water spurts out of a spout, lands in the fountain, goes down the drain, and comes back out of the spout. "Briony" seems to be a made-up name. I don't know anyone by that name; therefore, it's not a real name.

How do you pronounce it? Briony, that is. I'm going with Bree - OH - nee.
Cecilia, after going in the fountain for the vase, leaves a puddle of water by the fountain. Briony watches it evaporate. It's significant, I tell you!

I have it on good authority that you pronounce "Briony" as follows: CHUCK.
