hey, i just want to let everyone know about California men's junior college volleyball. i'm not sure if anyone has ever been to a game, but they are definetly worth checking out. There are many players today that got their start there. John Mayer from Pepp, Avri Jeschke and Shawn Fredrickson?? from Hawaii, and last year's first team all american setter Beau Daniels. This is an excellent way for more players to pursue their dreams of D1 stardom, and play some decent volleyball while they're at it. Look for many players who came from junior colleges to make a splash on the D1 radar. Several already have this season. If you really enjoy seeing the stars of tomorrow, check out these guys working their way there. If you want some more names of guys who used to play junior college, just let me know and i'll give you a list.

JC ballers are everywhere they deserve more recognition. Go check out a game if you get a chance.

JC players really do deserve more recognition. For example, that one guy and, oh yeah that other guy are really good players and haven't got any recognition. I'm surprised they didn't go to a D1, D2, or even SPRINGFIELD! Way to go keep it up in extended high school, oh wait I mean "Junior College", for sure I'm over this.

Pierce is a really good JC program. They have three rings in the last three years and they are always tranferring guys to the D1 level. Most notably to Pepp. They are really good, but as far as you're question, I don't really know what you're asking. Are they the number 1 JC program, yeah, are they number 1 out of the club teams, no.

I agree, there are many good players that go to JC's. Many good players have come out of JC's to eventually play on the national team, Jason Ring, Kevin Barnett and Riley Salmon just to name a few. I played at a JC and though the level of play maybe isn't as high as Division 1, its still good volleyball. Check it out sometime. Alot of the guys that play are very good but, it turns out that sometimes they are just not as physical as D1 players or maybe they just didn't have the grades to make it. You don't have to jump out of the gym and crush every ball to be a good player.

Yes, I agree. I would also like to add one more name to that list that played really well that came from a JC volleyball team and adventually went to a D1 team, and that person is Lance Walker.

I said "national team" not D1 schools, who can't go to a D1 school out of Junior College? Anyone if they really want to could do that, come on now. Yes, I agree. I said "national team" not D1 schools, who can't go to a D1 school out of Junior College? Anyone if they really want to could do that, come on now. I was making a point that some JC players can be good enough to play on a D1 team. As far as "who can't go to a D1 school out of Junior College?", how do you know all of those JC college players can make it in D1 level?

Are these JC guys alive and have 2 legs and 2 arms? Because if they do, then they can probably play at D1 school. I can think of alot of guys who went to D1 schools who met those requirements and nothing more. Look, obviously you are a terrible player and need some comfort in that JC is some kind of accomplishment. Congratulations!!! As far as "who can't go to a D1 school out of Junior College?", how do you know all of those JC college players can make it in D1 level?

After reading this last comment by you I'm not even sure you graduated high school. Did you just type in every single word you know and post it or what? It didn't even make sense

If people are looking for NATIONAL TEAM players out of a JC... well, from my knowledge I know of a couple (and I'm sure there are more too): Jeff Stork, Keith and Kevin Barnett and MARV DUNPHY (all went to Pierce Community College)... by the way... guess who is an assistant coach at Pierce right now... BEAU DANIELS.
Here's a question for this thread to keep going: as someone noted before, there is a LONG tradition of Pierce-to-Pepperdine success stories... does anyone "in the know" at Pierce have any suggestions for Pepperdine in the near future? We've got Dhiraj Coats and John Mayer right now.... I'm just wondering!

Is this the Pierce Brahma's from the greater Los Angeles area? The same school that Burt Fuller (asst @ UCLA, now at Utah St. women's) started his coaching career?
The former athletic director from lives in Pullman, WA now.
