LOL at the "ppl don't advance that quickly". no comment
btw, so what if some of the chinese female gymnasts are 12? if they really are then i feel more of a need to applaud them. however, a lot of the asian ppl look younger than they actually are, do keep this in mind. i thought the girls didn't do as well as the guys in gymnastics. the men IMO were great. the judges are not only chinese. i don't think the nonchinese would really let the chinese inflate the scores...unless they'r blind or somethin. i wasn't this into the olympics this this year. sincd i don't have cable i watch 'em on nbcolympics.com.......and all i hear the announcers talk about is how the men chinese gymnasts are the best or somethin. i wonder why that is if those men were never that good in international competitions

HCA: Home Court Advantage.
All of the Olympics have had it. Look at Spain's medal count in '92, USA's in '96, Australia's in '00, and Greece's in '04.

There should be minimum age requirements for the Oscar. I mean, child actors like Tatum O'Neal and Anna Pacquin get lucky.

I heard the U.S. intelligence community knew about the Pearl Harbor attack before it happened, but the powers-that-be let it happen to give the U.S. a reason to enter the war. I don't think they knew about the Chinese's attack though because, as we all know, the Chinese were cheating and so, couldn't be detected in advance. Those cheaters. Even cheat in war. What's next? Love? Yeah, right. 1.3 BILLION Chinese cheat at love. ROFL

No... The Chinese cheating?!!! No way! Sure, those Chinese girls are definitely not as old as they say they are, but it happens everywhere, even Cal lies about Hana Cutura's age (sorry BearClause, nothing personal). That's a flat-out wrong accusation that isn't supported by any facts. I know of someone close to Hana who was pissed off about the accusations of her age not being as listed. If you want, I can put you in contact with this person and you can make your accusations directly. Cal still publishes the DOB of its players, and I can assure you that her age is accurate. This isn't like the case of the Chinese gymnasts where there appears to be documented (eventually covered up) evidence that their age was claimed to be younger just last year with different birth dates.

The US surely has two or three girls who would have made the US team better. Smaller ladies can tumble faster and make more dramatic moves. The other thing is that the individual "apparatus" judges must come from countries other than those of the competitors. Some of the claims are that they're not necessarily the most experienced judges and sometimes their judging has been all over the map. So it wouldn't be Chinese judges biased towards the Chinese gymnasts.

This is whining, plain and simple. If you aren't better than a 14-year-old there's one of two things you can point to: 1) you don't deserve a gold medal or 2) you compete in a stupid sport.

First of all BearClause you can't assure us that age is accurate. Secondly, it isn't whining, its a rule, and if they broke it, its cheating. Dumb rule? Yes, but a rule nonetheless.

The fact it's a rule doesn't change the fact this is whining.

The fact it's a rule doesn't change the fact this is whining. So anyone who complains about steroid use is whining? I put falsifying a legal document to circumvent a rule in the same catagory. Also note that there are a number of countries out there who have "under-age" gymnasts (including the USA) who could have helped their teams. Those girls were not allowed to compete. Cheating is cheating.
