He was just "golden" for the team and a well deserved honour.

He was awesome. Attacking and serving, he was unmatched in these games.

Stan the man. I wonder how often he gets called that? ;-)
You'd would've thunk the Poles would've done better at these Games given they were awarded the best receiver, best setter, and best spiker!

David Lee was leading the blocking stats for the entire time until he was passed by Gustavo E in the final but I am sure Lee would rather have the gold medal instead!!

So proud of him, Back when he was a goofy footed skater punk I would have never guessed he could be an Olympic MVP.
He will for sure be there in London, hopefully with Delano, Alfee and Beckwith( I hope)

Wow.........he came a long way, especially when he didn't even start playing until late High School. I know he didn't start early on like most of these players but he just blossomed to be one of the best in the world.
Congrats Clay....

When he had that long messy hair, he looked like a typical glue-sniffing punk-ass kid. Now, with his shaved head, he looks like a thug. I want to see him in a suit and tie, if possible, and a David Copperfield haircut.

True, he didn't play h.s. ball, but he's an Outrigger product and the son of Jon Stanley, so he's been around the sport forever.

Fully deserved. He is just a physical specimen. His service must be the best in the world - when he catches his jump serve right, it is basically either going to be an ace or a broken play for the opposition. His serving essentially won USA set 1 vs Russia (run at the end) and set 2 vs Brazil (run at the start).
I think a big part of USA's success was that Ball and Stanley had played the whole season together at Kazan in Russia. It was clear that Ball trusted Stanley and vice versa - they seemed to feed off each other and both reached new heights in Beijing.

My favorite was the line shot he sent to the corner as a last ditch snap on the ball. You can see the Brasilians look at each other and both saying: "Oh s__t!"
