With the addition of points added by the Olympic results, Brazil will heavily solidify their #1 ranking, the USA will make it very close to surpassing Cuba and China gets back in the Top 5.
Women's Ranking
1. Brazil 355 pts 2. Italy 278.75 3. Cuba 272.5 4. USA 272.25 5. China 207.5

I believe midwestfan was asking about the men, which is what I'm most curious about.

I gotta believe that winning World League 2008 and the Gold Medal in Beijing will significantly boost the USA Men in their world rankings. Whether or not it vaults them ahead of Brazil and into the #1 spot remains to be seen. I have no idea how the FIVB calculates that stuff.

The men will move into 2nd with 257. Brazil will have 313. Russia will be right behind us at 255.5. The '06 world championships is what really keeps us from catching Brazil.

World ranking is comprised of 6 results over the past 4 years, not just the past 2 tournaments.

Well that makes zero sense. It should be an annual ranking as teams today don't look much like they did 4 years ago. Look at our own teams.

What's the big deal about the FIVB world ranking anyways? It's only purpose is for seeding international competitions, and doesn't adequately reflect the actual strength of the teams .
