First-team will for sure go to Barboza, Foluke and Klineman. How can you have 3 first-team AAs on a team that doesn't even win its conference? I'm not a rocket scientist, but I can see it doesn't add up.

Uhh, Stanford has just lost once in Pac-10. What are you talking about?

First-team will for sure go to Barboza, Foluke and Klineman. Shocking picks by you... I think Barboza is borderline first team right now. actually, what's shocking is that tenniscraze only named 3 cardinal players ...

The NPOY thread has gotten lots of attention thus far, so just for fun I decided to make this thread. So far in this season, who do you think has earned first team All American honors? I haven't really checked stats or anything, so some of my predictions may seem off. Nicole Fawcett-PSU Christa Harmatto-PSU Alisha Glass-PSU Sydney Anderson-Nebraska Jordan Larson-Nebraska Destiny Hooker-Texas Hana Cutura-Cal Carli Lloyd-Cal Alix Klineman-Stanford Nellie Spicer-UCLA Gorana Maricic-Oregon Brook Dieter-Minnesota Good list but I don't see 4 setters on first team. Glass yes. I'd give Lloyd edge over Anderson and Spicer after Cal's win over Stanford.

Uhh, Stanford has just lost once in Pac-10. What are you talking about? Well let's see.... Is there any team that has fewer losses in conference right now?

Barboza wont make 1st team and Foluke wont either if the setting doesn't improve a GREAT deal.

Good list but I don't see 4 setters on first team. Glass yes. I'd give Lloyd edge over Anderson and Spicer after Cal's win over Stanford. Cals win over Stanford??? . Anderson also has a win over Stanford. What is the difference??? Stanford was at home against Cal but on the road in a "neutral" site (Omaha) against Nebraska. Lloyd led her team to higher hitting and more assists per game. Lloyd's overall game (blocking, digging) stood out more if you base it on stats. I wouldn't say two contests against a common opponent are really enough to judge worthiness for postseason honors. However - this was a high-profile contest on national television and a lot of people finally got to see how good Lloyd was. That being said, I don't the comment was meant to disparage Anderson, but to point out that one person finally saw Lloyd play on a huge stage and was duly impressed.

Barboza wont make 1st team and Foluke wont either if the setting doesn't improve a GREAT deal. this is actually sad but true...as great as Foluke is...she's struggling because of the setting situation at Stanford...she is clearly first team, but jus because of the setting, that might hurt her chances

Foluke has picked up her blocking, maybe that will help her case?
1st Teamers
Fawcett POY candidate Klineman POY candidate (going out on a long shot here) Cutura POY candidate Harmatto Mirashyro Spicer Glass Larson/Anderson (someone from Nebraska will be 1st team with a no 2 ranking) Murphy FOY ( Murry/Jupiter outside competition for FOY, but really not at the same level as Murphy ) Paolini (haven't seen her play in awhile) Hooker/Engle (one will be 2nd team) Barboza/Foluke (one will be 2nd team)

Uhh, Stanford has just lost once in Pac-10. What are you talking about? Cal has a chance to run the table and control their own destiny. Maybe they would Stanford east to play Penn State in the regionals. That would be interesting.

I'm going to violate etiquette and throw out a player from an unknown school (at least in discussions like this one): State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week: Kelly Broussard, Wichita State, Sr., L (San Antonio, Texas/Clark)Senior libero Kelly Broussard led the Shockers to wins over UNI and Bradley last weekend to finish the first half of MVC play undefeated. She averaged 7.12 digs per set in the two contests. In a defensive battle against UNI, Broussard registered a career-high 43 digs and finished just two shy of tying the school and MVC record. In the first set alone, she had 13 digs and added 12 in the second set. Against Bradley, she tallied 14 digs in the three-set match. Broussard now has had double-digit digs in 34-straight matches, which is the fourth-longest active streak in the nation. This week's accolade marks Broussard's fourth Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7600&ATCLID=1607463If WSU ends the season 37-0 (which we know will not occur but assume this for the sake of argument), then one would think WSU might get someone listed as an All-American. If WSU goes 36-1, maybe the same comment holds? What about 35-1? 34-1 (i.e. a loss in the regional final)? Probably not. Who are the most important players for WSU? There are three candidates. 1 Broussard, Kelly L 5-7 Sr. San Antonio, Texas (Clark HS) 2 Stockman, Emily OH 6-0 Jr. Colorado Springs, Colo. (Winthrop) (Doherty HS) 5 Hooper, Mary Elizabeth S 5-10 Fr. Plano, Texas (Plano Senior HS)www.goshockers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7500&KEY=&SPID=2838&SPSID=61210(Of course, WSU might lose all the rest of its games and finish 20-10. ;D ) PS It's a guilty pleasure but you like posts like this. Admit it; you love to compare your libero with a weak libero like this. Why, just look at web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/rankings?sportCode=WVB and compare. 9 Christine Tan, Minnesota Jr. 64 340 5.31 13 Katie Swoboda, Oregon Sr. 54 277 5.13 17 Kelly Broussard, Wichita St. Sr. 63 320 5.08 37 Tamari Miyashiro, Washington Jr. 58 269 4.64 43 Stevi Robinson, Pepperdine Fr. 46 209 4.54 45 Haley Carroll, San Francisco Jr. 64 289 4.52(BTW: Liberos don't get picked as All-Americans. Right? )
