Good point Not Richee (and sorry not to include you before)... isn't that the beauty of the forum... no one knows what us "armchair" coaches have as far as background (although Crusin does offer a lot of info)... but we still get to speculate on results... because it makes it so much more fun to analyze the matches and the sport of volleyball as a whole from our (somewhat) objective stances!
Keep up the posts... and we'll just wait and see what factors come into play tomorrow night... personally, I can't wait!
GO WAVES!

okay, i fell asleep before the match started (hey, it started at 1200 est, and i needed to be rested up for partying tonight), so i didn't hear of the results until about 20 minutes ago.
from what i read on the uh athletics web site, i thought hawaii played very well and just lost to a better team. three players in double-digit kills and both middles playing exceptionally well? i thought that was pretty good.
someone please fill me in on what exactly was hawaii's problem. was it passing? setting? did rasay come in for kimo?
and i'm a sophomore now!

The Peperdine/Hawai`i match was an awesome match despite the Warriors losing. It was just a match filled with lots of good volleyball.
Pepperdine just showed that they wanted it more at the end of games 3 and 4 because those games easily could have gone either way. Pepperdine just came up big at the end.
I think that Kimo Tuyay had a kind of off night in his settings, because lots of his sets were off location. But other then that, I think that Hawai`i's hitters did well despite Pepperdine's big blocks. Honestly, like how another poster said that Hawai`i served good last night. I don't really think they served that great in comparison to previous matches.
I was also impressed with the play of Brian Nordberg. I think we held is own against Pepperdine. Even though he get beaten on lots of his blocking assignments, I think he deserves a lot of praise for the job that he has did last night.
The play where the Pepperdine player leaped over the press tables was the thing that set Pepperdine apart from all the other teams. That just showed how much heart Pepperdine plays with and their never say die attitude.
I just can't wait till tomorrow night's match. Even though I won't be there to watch I anticipate that it will be another barn burner and the fans will get a treat with these two excellent teams taking on each other.
GO WARRIORS!!!

I'm glad I didn't watch. I still have faith in this Warrior team however. Though they seem to falter in the regular season they always seem to play their best when it counts. Maybe we need to impliment a new system. Have Shoji coach the regular seasons on both teams, then bring in Wilton for the postseason. Then we get the best of both worlds, right?

I just hope everyone remembers this is the MPSF. And also, Hawaii has played THE top teams in the MPSF in BYU, Pepperdine, Northridge, and Irvine. Besides the Stanford match, splitting with the top 4 teams in the MPSF is pretty good IMO. Hawaii could have swept a couple of those teams, but look for the rest of the season to be a little easier.
