What's up? Did Dejan and Vernon really make a big difference last year? You would think we got better with the addition of Josh Stanhiser (6-10), Azenha, Matt Bender, Matt Motter, and a much improved Delano Thomas.

What's up? Did Dejan and Vernon really make a big difference last year? You would think we got better with the addition of Josh Stanhiser (6-10), Azenha, Matt Bender, Matt Motter, and a much improved Delano Thomas. Right now its just a consistency factor. I would say two of their losses came just because they weren't playing with enough heart. Northridge and Stanford, with no disrespect, shouldn't have beat Hawaii. Hawaii came out with no fire and just expected the other team to break down. Stanford and Northridge didn't and Hawaii payed the price for their mistake. As far as Pepperdine, Hawaii came out and spot them about 3 or 4 points in two of the games and that made the difference. Hawaii seems to have trouble playing a full game. Pepperdine played for the entire match while Hawaii played for only part of the match. Incidently, thats what is making Pepperdine look so good. They play with a lot of consistency and are very disciplined. Didn't get to see Irvine or BYU so I can't comment on that. But those losses arn't bad losses, considering the current ranking puts these three teams at number one, three, and four in the nation. It could be a chemistry thing. Vernon and Dejan helped Hawaii to play for the entire match. On paper, Hawaii didn't lose a lot of players but no one can ever tell what emotionally happens to a team when players leave.

There's nothing wrong with Hawaii. Do you remember last year when they were beaten several times in the first half but they came on strong in the second? No one gave them a chance, but they prevailed. Take it from me, NEVER underestimate UH! Watch the Warriors win every game for the rest of the season, that is, right after they lose to Pep tonight.

I think Roy hit the nail on the head... as much as I do believe that Vernan and Dejan did help their team last year... I think that there is a certain lack of fire this year... not a lack of talent. Although I will have to say that watching Vernan play at Libero will go down in history... especially during the NCAA Championship game last year... unbelievable. Anyways, because of the fact that UH is not at all lacking in talent leads me to believe that VBCrusin is right as well... don't underestimate the Warriors... if they play to their potential, then watch out! By-the-Way: is it wrong that I'm officially doing a count-down to tonight's game... I can't wait!
GO PEPP!

No WaveRider it is not wrong. Or at least if it is, I am in the red as well, and have been since Wednesday's match ended. Another late night watching great volleyball on a less than spectacular webcast.
(By the way I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest thanks to the University of Hawaii and to KFVE for providing the webcast. Even though it is nowhere close to actually being there, it is nice to be able to see the match!!)

I agree with vbcrusin, Hawaii will win every match after the Pepperdine game including the finals against Pepp. Hawaii will be the bride and Pepp will be the bridesmaid. AGAIN !!!!!!!

Excuse me, Chin ho, but you have it wrong. True, Hawaii will be the Bride, BUT Pep will be the groom who leaves the Bride at the altar...Pep beats UH in the Final.
