Below from ESPN, but no story nor score on second match.
It will be an all-California NCAA men's volleyball final. Host UCLA swept Penn State, while top-seeded Pepperdine shut out Ohio State on Thursday night in the semifinals. The Bruins and Waves and will meet for the national championship on Saturday.

FWIW, in game 3 when the score was about 6-4 in Pepperdine's favor, something in the floorboards came loose, and game management spent about 5 minutes lifting up the floorboards and stomping them back in place. Looked like an air pocket or something.
So that incredibly long pause in game 3 wasn't a Gametracker malfunction, it was a floor malfunction.
As for game 2, who knows?

I'm not sure if I didn't see the play well, but it appeared that Pep got a phantom touch call at 27-25 (or it might have been 28-26). Either way, totally screwed OSUs momentum and the game was pretty much over at that point. Also, there was an interesting substitution near the end of the game where OSU sub'ed out #12 (who had been their best attacker) while in the front row. Anyone have any idea why? The sub came in and promptly gave up a point. Seemed an odd time to remove one of your best hitters.
I have to give OSU credit. After an atroucious first game they finally realized that they could run the middle and attack the Pep block.
Rooney was his normal self. Hitting the open spots on the court. Had some wicked jump serves to put games 2 and 3 away.

I thought maybe the coach was going with a blocking specialist but the new guy was shorter than Cole. The only thing I could think of was that the guy was a senior and the coach wanted to let him get in his last match. Bad move, though, because he screwed up and the game was really tight at that point.

I was on the opposite side of Pauley from the team benches (under the media rows) and from my vantage point, it was a routine touch call... I was suprised at the reaction since there were some more questionable line in/out calls during the match than that touch incident

I was suprised at the reaction since there were some more questionable line in/out calls during the match than that touch incident I was sitting next to the contingent of Ohio State fans, but I wasn't intently paying attention on that specific play. I just remember all of a sudden the entire OSU contingent gasped and booed in unison. But I didn't see the play itself occur. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Okay, the first game was a blowout and the Buckeyes looked shell-shocked and out of their league.
The second and third games were really close, though, and could have gone either way. I was hoping that one or more games would have gone OSU's way to extend the match because the level play was actually really high once the Buckeye OH's started to find their range.
OSU had the size and athleticism to compete with Pepp but they just don't have the ball control and steadiness. The Buckeye hitters have as much, or more, velocity. They tattoed a few Pepp players, and Greaves hit the single hardest shot of the night. However, they don't hit with the range and discipline of the MPSF players.
It's interesting that half of the Waves' starting lineup is from Illinois. I wonder how good Rooney/Hulse/Hein would be if they had gone to an MIVA school or how good OSU would be if they had snagged them.
