Susan Boyle, never married, forty seven, unemployed, never been kissed but she has become an overnight worldwide singing sensation Entertainment Weekly called her an incredible talent in plain brown wrapping paper.
Boyle shocked a rude audience and three smug judges including Simon Cowell on Britain's Got Talent Show seconds after starting her song I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables
Boyle's youtube video has racked up over 4 million views in 4 days. This is worth watching this lady can sing and watching the change of facial expressions of the judges is priceless.

Paul Potts, last year's winner is equally impressive with his rendition of Nessun Dorma.

Amanda Holden was doing all she could to keep from breaking out in tears. I Dreamed a Dream is a great song.
The Lyrics
I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used And wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung No wine untasted.
But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they tear your hope apart As they turn your dream to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me That we will live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms We cannot weather...
I had a dream my life would be So different form this hell I'm living so different now from what it seemed Now life has killed The dream I dreamed.

She's got a pretty good set of pipes - that's for sure. Not sure what she could do though. She would need some acting talent in order to perform in musicals. Appearance is an issue on stage. She may be like William Hung (awkward looking) but with actual singing talent. Hopefully she can ride the notoriety for something economically substantial. I remember Jim Nabors used to have albums which sort of played off of his "Gomer Pyle" persona by demonstrating an extreme contrast.

I think her sudden popularity besides having a beautiful voice is more about "never judge a book by its cover " which seems to be the line most used in the 45,000 plus comments on YouTube. Who knows where it is headed but in this interview she seems so down to earth when she says “Whatever comes my way, I am ready. talent.itv.com/news/story/item_100074.htm

A strong performance. She was quite good in the middle and toward the upper ranges, but she was a little weak and breathy in the lowest range, but that can easily be cleaned up in the recording studio.
The producers knew ahead of time exactly what they were getting and how they were going to package this performance (underdog, ugly duckling, black swan, mousy girl with the heart of gold, etc.) to generate interest in their show. The three judges' facial expressions were as well-acted as Ms. Boyle's lyrics were sung. Bravo to all the performances featured on that video clip.

The lowest couple of notes in the bridge are very low compared to the rest of it. They aren't easy to hit.

I don't believe the judges were in on it. That's part of the show...

I don't believe the judges were in on it. That's part of the show... I'm surprised you can be such a skeptic towards the political news entertainment genre, but you believe in the reality TV contest entertainment genre.
