i have some comments about the first game, which hawaii just won 30-25. (yes!)
what is up with brian nordberg and saran wrap? that has got to be the most unhelpful thing one could tie around his head to keep the sweat off. am i wrong? but nordberg, save for his serving, is playing exceptional.
watching delano thomas at the beginning of the year and seeing him now, i see that he isn't playing as hard as he was earlier. but he's getting some great plays.
wow, fred winters. nice face. (hey, i'm a girl and i look at these things.)
arist de wolff and james ka - nice to see some hawaii boys getting some playing time for the #1 team. they'll both be up there on the depth chart come the next two years.
hawaii had great kills, but needs to step up its blocking and its serving. errors errors errors!

The announcers were talking about the Saran Wrap last night and I think it is really just his attempt at being an individual. He is a bit of an odd one but the Saran Wrap sure does make me miss the oddity of his shoe lace head band.
Oh and Winters – FYI – very nice guy but very very quiet.

i think game 2 (hawaii won 31-29) has got to be the BEST game of men's volleyball i have ever seen. that game was outregeous. i wish all games would be like that, only if hawaii wins. haha.
again, my comments: middles need to be set more. nordberg and thomas have been doing pretty well percentage wise.
there's something to be said when a team's best blocker is shorter than one of its outside hitters. pepperdine has the best (and biggest) block in the nation, hands down. 6'10" hein (who is still kinda raw), 6'9" keenan and then you've got 6'9" rooney, who is a great blocker.
and i like the saran wrap. it is very individual, to say the least.
vballdoll, it's great to have another girl on this forum to talk about the guys' looks. beachy and i have talked about tyler hildebrand a bit. haha. we're under-represented here!
vbcruisin, i don't remember what you have said about glendhill, but i am not that impressed with him. what do you think?

Pepperdine just doesn’t want it as badly tonight as Hawaii does. Hawaii is really playing well, making few errors and doing a great job of finishing. Hawaii is not letting Pepperdine out of the Stan Sheriff center with two wins. They know that they have to win the rest of their matches to be a contender for the NCAA so right now Hawaii is playing for their life. Hawaii’s play so often is based on their emotions and tonight it is really doing a good job of carrying them. So far there hasn’t really been anyone leading the Pepp boys. Freddie is not playing as well as he did on Wednesday. Gledhill still hasn’t found his grove on the island. Sean just seems to be walking up. I am still crossing my fingers for a W but I am not holding my breath. I predicted Pepp to win twice but more out of loyalty than belief. Sweetievbfan -

i'm so impressed with sean rooney. this is the first time i've seen pepperdine play recently (not even once last year!) and rooney is so good.
let's see if hawaii can recharge for game 4 (pepperdine won game 3 30-26) and finish this match! i'm getting tired, it's 200 in the morning here.

Rooney is very very good. I have consistently been impressed with him since the first time I ever saw him play, and he is consistently improving. He will be around the VB scene for a long time to come. During game three he really stepped up his play and became the go-to guy which really lead to Pepp winning the game. He really can do it all, and one of the things that impresses me the most about him is how well he digs the balls. Not only is he able to get to the floor, but his technical skills are great. He has a great platform and moves his body all the right ways to get the plays.
Next one to watch – Andy Hein has improved so much during this season and he is getting better with each match.

Hi sweetieVBfan, Enjoyed your UH/Pep comments. Your question about "what I think of Gledhill?" At 6'7" and and on the scrawny side, he's stronger then he looks (thank heavens!) A lefty, he's a pretty good hitter, but he isn't a dominant one, yet. He complements the Pep Team makeup and is content with a supporting role. Since opponents are keying on Winters, Keenan and Rooney, Mike enjoys getting some open shots, although I've seen him hit by a few double blocks lately. Gledhill does his support job, but Pep has many "go to" guys, so Mike doesn't have that pressure. Azenha is really leaving UH? Too bad. I wonder who will pick him up? He's a VERY GOOD player to be on the bench. I look forward to seeing him play somewhere...anywhere. I'll leave you ladies to comment on player looks...I just like their play, not what they look like in shorts.

Hey Crusin I am not going to argue with Sweetie but all I said was that Freddie was a nice guy. Congrats to Hawaii – they played VERY well tonight! I am extremely sad for my boys but a loss had to come eventually right. Well I agree with Crusin and I think that these teams will match up again later in the postseason.

What a great match. I guess Pepp isn't as invincible as many on this board thought they were. I was very surprised that Hawaii could pull off the win, but I have to give them credit (I was beginning to lose the faith). It's really too bad about Azenha, he was a great player. I'd be lying, though, if I said I wished him the best. I really don't like it when a player leaves a school in part because of their playing time. He would have been a full-time starter and the star of the team come next year. Anyways, enough negativity. I'm just going to enjoy this win and have a good night's sleep. Go Warriors!

Is it just me or did anyone else think Costas was doing his Alan Hackbarth impression?

costas had some really weird celebration moves. even leahey and mclachlin said something about that.

If you've seen Costas on the dance floor, he's worst than me and I'm Pilipino and I'm suppose to good at dancing. That Greek can "bang" the vb but his body moves are awful. He's no Zorba the Greek. Mabuhay.
