Did you watch the fox news segment I linked earlier in this thread? Even their commentators are saying that a lot of the scrutiny Palin received from the Media was well deserved. If you've done or said something really stupid or even lied and the media points it out, IT IS AN ATTACK! Frankly her hypersensitivity to any type of criticism is what is creating all the media attacks. Just like the school yard bullies, if they can get a rise out of you, they will continue to attack. Also the media likes to stereotype each candidate. In 2004, John Kerry was protrayed as an elitest, east coast, snob (somewhat true). The completely fabricated lies regarding the swiftboat BS.... really pissed me off. Why didn't the media debunk those lies? One of my biggest criticisms with the media is that they are horrible at completely shutting down verifiable LIES. They allow stories that are 100% proved wrong to have legs. MMmm .... I was also watching Fox this morning and didn't get that opinion from them. They were neither pro or critical. What did make sense to me is that she has a half a million dollar debt and a media circus around her constantly. She feels its inhibited her ability to do her job for Alaska. I think in all honesty it would be very difficult to make progress for a state when you still have three lawsuits pending out of the 12 you just went through and were proven innocent. I have to disagree with you. I don't think that we have seen anything like this unfairness and scrutiny in the history of politics especially involving children. I think Palin has a very fair view of her own situation and she knows its been way over the top. For those of you who think I am defending her because she is a conservative, think again. Despite my more conservative leanings I did vote for Obama and think he is doing a good job considering his many challenges. To me...this is about being fair no matter who the candidate happens to be. I also thought that Hilliary Clinton for the simple fact of being a woman was treated poorly at times. Lets have enough integrity to look at a situation for what it is.

I would make a couple of points.
OBAMA was challenged BY FOX ONLY about the Bill Aires and his minister spewing hate. The other net works just glossed over that..but did Focus on PALINS CLOTHES..her daughters baby..her hunting..
FOX showed how OBAMA was tied to ACORN..and other political Chicago politics...the other networks showed OBAMA shooting Basketballs and Bowling.
The other NET works sent TEAMS to Alaska to dig UP DIRT on PALIN..not her record.
She was criticized for her interview with CURIC...yet OBAMA stumbles more when OFF THE TELEPROMPTER and soft ball questions...when in doubt ..BLAME BUSH.
When off script BOTH are weak..yet OBAMA gets a free pass..PALIN is seen as dumb.
OBAMA is shown without a shirt as a sculpted guy... PALIN is criticized for being TOO good looking?
I could go on and on..

Chip! Do you seriously think the media has treated Obama and Palin the same because after all....your arguement has been that she had just better suck it up because if she was running for President , this is the kind of scrutiny she needs to get use to. Palins negative media coverage by the press has been 10 times more critical and inflammatory than Obama's . I would like to ask if you would please clarify what are your definitions for "the media" and "the press", because I don't seem to see the same discrepancy in negative treatment that you do. You don't see the difference in which Obama has been treated vs. Palin? Seriously? I have not read a single negative word about Obama's children . That fact alone is a huge difference not to mention the rest. The press is news agency's and I would classify the media to include blogs given the reach of the internet.

Bill has some good points. The majority of press love Obama and have a reverance for him that I have not seen in awhile in either party.

First, you and Bill are wrong about the amount of scrutiny given Palin vs Hilary or Obama. Second, even if you're right, and the press hounded Palin more, how would that have changed had she been elected VP? She would've faced even more attention being the FIRST female VP. Would she have been justified in just up and quitting then after being elected VP?

Bill hasn't made a good point in 5 years, if ever.
What is wrong with Obama off-script? He thinks through his answers and takes his time, yes. But he always makes sense. To say Palin off-script is as lucid as Obama is just laughable.
ACORN?? What is the deal with ACORN? A right wing bogeyman, pure and simple.

I could post the same amount of lies that OBAMA/BIDEN FRANKS..PELOSSI...MURTHA...REID...DODD have told without any HELP.
Since our economy is doing so well..why bother?
"Palin lied when she said she kept her running injury a secret on the campaign trail; in fact, her bandaged hand was clearly visible in photographs and the story was widely talked about."
From the link above,,
GEE a lie to deceive the taxpayers..sort of on the same level as voting PRESENT...instead of yes or no.

No one was attacked more than John Kerry in 2004. No one. And almost all of it was lies.
And, lest we forget, who was the attack dog in 2008?

Oh, is this why she quit now? Because of Letterman's joke? Last I heard, she quit because poor Alaska was wasting too much money defending her from bogus ethics investigations. Or did that change again?
Her children are not being attacked, holiday. Let's not get carried away.
There has been nothing in the last two years that even came close to the level of the Swift Boat gang.
The personal attacks on Kerry's looks, his so-called elitism, his personality, his WIFE -- now, maybe you can draw some parallels there with some of the Palin stuff, but let's not overreach.

One evening some time ago, I was playing with the remote and every single talk show was making jokes about Bristols pregnancy including Leno. I guess being made fun of is different than being attacked to you? Now...about Kerry...what were the jokes about his children again. Enlighten me.
