Ya, good question to ask when US tax receipts are down 18% this year -- most since the Great Depression -- and we have a projected 2009 deficit of $1.8T.

I take my sparkling Arbor Mist (strawberry or peach) in a blue 8 ounce plastic cup over ice...YUM.
That's class dismissed.

Maybe we can make this a wine rivalry. I'd go for a good Oregon Pinot Noir (Erath, maybe?) That would stand up nicely to the clams and 'shrooms.

Erath isn't bad.
Lately, with it being so hot, I've been drinking chilled Barnard Griffin Rose Of Sangiovese. Very nice. What's open right now, though, is a mostly dry reisling from Ste. Michelle.

Just because the dog at that old house with the broken down car in the front yard foams at the mouth and goes into an unrestrained barking spasm when I jog by each night, doesn't mean we have a rivalry between us. My passing by is done for my own purposes; it is entirely accidental that the occurence provides an opportunity for the dog to exercise its indiscriminate passion by perceiving me as a rival or intruder to be repelled through mindless darwinian dominance displays. But no matter how much delight it takes in indulging its compulsion to froth and attack, and no matter how much it is convinced that its incoherent yowls are the reason I ran on past the house, at the end of the day when I'm sitting down to a toothsome risotto alle vongole e porcini, followed by an hour spent sipping a mellow Pinot Grigio while reading Weaver's translation of Calvino's Le città invisibili, the crazy dog is still merely a senseless creature driven and derided by an instinctive territorial vanity, its eyes burning with anguish and anger. Eloquent post O&U

The Chateau St. Michelle is a bit of a dry riesling for my taste. I prefer a spatelese from almost any of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer area of Germany...as far as something more local...I'd say Hogue's late harvest.

No, Eroica is not particularly dry. Not sweet, like a Kabinet, but not very dry either. No, this is called "Waussie". It has just a touch of sweetness, and also the lightest touch of carbonation. It's pretty good, actually. It was one of the recent club selections.

I'm frustrated. Does that = interested? Lonewolf - who do you follow ? I'm a homer...I follow USA...I also cheer for Brazil when they're not playing USA...not from jumping on the wagon..but from getting to meet some former and current players and talking with some of the coaching staff.

The thing about CSM is that they make so many wines in so many different styles. They made a kabinet reisling last year that was very Germanic. Quite nice. And then they make the Eroica. And even some completely dry styles. But I tend to agree with you. I usually like my reislings to be more sweet, like the Germans and Austrians make them.

Personally, not interested. I want to "chat" with fans who enjoy volleyball, not boys who want to have a bragging contest. BoilerUp!.....I'm less interested than you...haha...I'm winning I am less interested in you than her. Boilerup, let's meet halfway in vegas. We can chat too!

I was there just this past weekend for a jazz festival. I had about two whole bottles to myself (lol nothing else better to do on a hot saturday afternoon). delectably sweet
