This week’s Top Volleyball Prognosticator (T.V.P.) was a very close competition, because we have a 7 way tie for first. In fact, out of the 14 matches, our loyal volleyball fans chose the majority of the outcomes correctly: CONGRATULATIONS to all ! First Place: (7 way tie) Vbcrusin………….12-2 (YES! I’m back!) Kolohekeiki……….12-2 Barefoot in Kailua…12-2 Coach McGuirk……12-2 David……………….12-2 (David is a diehard Bruin…he would have won the competiton if he didn’t vote that UCLA would split with Hawaii). ;D Vballmom………….12-2 (Once again, vballmom is at the top…way to go!) Beachy……………..12-2 (Beachy too is a consistent prognosticator…EXCELLENT job!) 2nd Place: (6 way tie) mvbdad…………..11-3 (Thanks for choosing my BYU…twice! I wish I did.) D1vbfan………….11-3 Roofan……………11-3 (Always on my heels, Squirrel Boy!) ;D Vballdoll………….11-3 Vballkid…………..11-3 Heinrich Schliemann III…11-3 (A first time Prognosticator…way to go!) 3rd Place: (6 way tie) Sweetie VB fan………10-4 IdahoBoy……………..10-4 Godzillavball…………10-4 (Another newcomer…Congrats!) Vballah………………..10-4 (Last week’s winner…tied with volleymom) Volleymom……………10-4 (Last week’s tied winner! Way to go again!) Fred……………………10-4 (Not bad for a newcomer, Fred…keep it up!) 4th Place: (2 way tie) bangdown……………..9-5 (A die-hard Anteater…better not vote for your team next team, although I thought UCI would split with my BYU…my error!) halesvb11……………..9-5 (not a bad try first time out…keep it up!) 5th Place (and last) wildguess……………(Another first-timer in the competition…obviously a USC fan…it’s okay to vote against your team.) A big CONGRATULATIONS to UCSD’s victory over USC…once again, they proved me wrong.

Hey VBCrusin! Glad to hear you're coming back there! ;D Followed your prognostications last year and was quite impressed so I thought maybe you're losing your touch. I continue to read this board, listen, watch and learn, but am still too new to the men's game to put in my two cents.

I must admit I had three wrong ( UCI twice, and USC, against Ball State ), That puts me in a tie for second.
It was certainly a tight contest this week with everyone doing so well.
VBcrusin, if you kept your original pick of BYU over UCI twice, you'd have won. Like Vballmom said, thanks for all of your hard work in running these prediction contests.

Hey Barefoot...I went back to check your choices and found you picked a "spilt" in the BYU vs UCI match...you record stands the same...12-2. Also, if I had chosen my BYU twice over UCI, I had won, but I really thought BYU was weakened by the loss of Chris Gorney...apparently, they haven't been. I usually call the matches without regard to loyalty to any team. I do have Pepperdine losing one more game this season. Hey Nutter...I was better last year, because I thought it was easier to predict the matches due to the solid play & momentum of certain teams. This year, however, it was a lot tougher...you have to admit that this year there were many more upsets than last year. Hawaii was the biggest surprise this year...just when everyone thought they were invincible, they would lose. UCI, with their fast start, you'd think they would dominate everyone...it just goes to prove that the 2003 MPSF race is a WILD (and many times unpredictable) one. Have I lost my touch this year? Not really. However, it is more difficult this year...with the exception of a "consistent" Pepperdine, everyone else has had their "ups & downs" in consistency, which makes for a tighter Prognosticator competition. Incidentally, in the last 4 weeks of the T.V.P. competiton, Vballmom, Vballah, Beachy, Mvbdad and Roofan are slightly ahead of me this season...which is a testament of the great volleyball fans who know and appreciate all volleyball teams. Way to go Fans...we'll see who is the "King or Queen" T.V.P. at the end of the season. Keep those predictions coming.

You're right Crusin', I don't know why I thought I picked UCI twice, that wouldn't have been too smart a choice. I'm glad to be among such good volleyball prognosticators

Not that I am picky since I am so, so happy to be in first place ....but......I think if you place the people who tied for first in alphabetical order (by first letter only) you will find that I actually tied for second with Barefoot. And if he spelled his name Bearfoot instead, I would be in first place alone! ;D. Not that I am competetive or anything like that! I think I should get extra credit because I did pick the BYU sweep....unlike die-hard Y fan VBcruz. I also tried to give the Trojans some credit but that's the last time I do that. I had my acceptance speech already since volleymom did such a great job!

Hey Beachy, I don't place anyone in alphabetical order...I place them as they submit their predictions. I have a stat form for all matches, so when someone posts his or her choices, I naturally write in their name in that order. It helps me to keep things straight. If you want to be first on my entry list, get your choices in first...and quit being Beachy (that's probably mispelled). Way to go on your being in a "tied" first...you're in very good company.

This is pretty neat! I wish I knew enough to join the fun. I think what would be great is if vbcrusin could put compile a history of the contestants and their W-L record. the number of weeks they won, etc.

Change the rules a bit to limit the amount of ties. One way to do that is, is by having people not only predict the winner of a match, but, to add by how many games. That should be more interesting on the prediction crew.

Hey Talons nest...good suggestion, and I have already compiled the stats for the last 4 weeks (when we started this contest)...59 matches already. However, there are some who didn't predict all 4 weeks, but I still charted their win-loss record: After 4 weeks of T.V.P. competition: Vballmom………. 44 out of 59 matches (.746) Roofan………… 44 out of 59 matches (.746) Vballah…………43 out of 59 matches (.729) Beachy…………43 out of 59 matches (.729) Mvbdad…………42 out of 59 matches (.712) Vbcrusin…………41 out of 59 matches (.695) SweetieVBfan…… 39 out of 59 matches (.661) Vballdoll………….35 out of 47 matches (.745) Kolohekeiki……….33 out of 47 matches (.702) David……………...32 out of 47 matches (.681) Barefoot in Kailua...30 out of 47 matches (.638) IdahoBoy……..…..28 out of 47 matches (.596) Vballkid………… 25 out of 34 matches (.735) D1vbfan…………23 out of 34 matches (.677) Coach McGuirk…22 out of 34 matches (.647) Volleymom…….25 out of 33 matches (.758) Waverider………23 out of 33 matches (.697) Vballer14……….20 out of 33 matches (.606) Shibbybeam……19 out of 33 matches (.576) Eater………….12 out of 20 matches (.600) Heinrich Schliemann III…11 out of 14 matches (.786) Godzillavball……10 out of 14 matches (.714) Fred.……………10 out of 14 matches (.714) Bangdown…..….9 out of 14 matches (.643) Halesvb11……..9 out of 14 matches (.643) Wildguess.…….8 out of 14 matches (.571) As you can see, we have some great prognosticators...the top being Heinrich Schliemann III with .786 for 14 matches...Volleymom with .758 for 33 matches...vballmom and roofan (a.k.a. squirrel boy) with .746 for 59 matches...and vballdoll with .745 for 47 matches. There are some great volleyball fans who know & appreciate all teams, which is evident by their predictions. Apparently this year, vbcrusin has nothing over these GREAT fans... Way to go fans... Is this a GREAT season, or what? And FUN too! ;D

Hey JustAthought...great suggestion. When we reach the MPSF tournament, I will require that the prognosticators predict not only the match, BUT how many games played as well. That should adjust the ties quite nicely, and illustrate WHO is the REAL T.V.P.
Okay? ;D

Hey Barefoot, Your Final prediction...Hawaii over Pepperdine in 4? What a big surprise? I know you're really a "closet Pep fan" who is held prisoner in Hawaii. It's a shame. I think we had this conversation before...just get your T-Leaf grass skirt ready to mail, OR give it to Bookum when I pick up his Hawaiian shirt after Pep gets their revenge. I've put up with Hawaii's superior attitude all year...now it's my turn. My "Quiet Assassins" will quiet all you UH fans at the end of the year. Oh, and you better watch out for my BYU team as well. They'll spank you if they get the chance. ;D Aloha, Dude.
