Not that libero is not a real position, but no way does a libero deserve such an award as ROY. NO WAY. And this is coming from a libero.

BTW, I do think an individual playing the libero postion deserves ROY consideration.
The libero has revolutionized the game...it was meant as a defensive upgrade, but where it really has changed the game has been on the offensive end. Teams can stay in or get back into (ie, transition) back into system so much more effectively w/ at least 1 premier passer/defender in the back court virtually at all times (more true even in NC2A women's, where they let the LIB serve).
Not to discount any other of the skills, but it still starts w/ the pass. I think it's as crucial a component as anything else. I think it's a "real" position, and that a ROY award (MPSF or AVCA) would be fine.
That being said, I still like Carroll as my ROY. Asuka's nice, but I'd take Reft any day over him.

to idiotic....that is your name, right? some liberos can impact their teams play and some can't. Asuka has and he deserves some recogniton. Yes, he has made more of a difference that Carroll at Pepp If there was not an advantage to having the libero on the court, then coaches would not use that player. They would keep in the middles in order to have another swing from the back row. Therefore, it is a REAL position. to fingrbustr Reft is not a newcomer so you can't compare who is better for this particular award. (Reft has had an excellent year as well) Carroll is good but I think Asuka gave LBSU more difficulties because he dug every ball we thought was down. I think we contained Carroll at the net on offense.

And this is coming from a libero. why don't you think a libero deserves such an award. a libero puts in just as much work at practice as say a setter, an outside hitter, or a middle blocker. do you think a middle blocker that only plays front row would deserve it more than a libero that only plays back row just because the middle blocker is the one that scores points for his team. remember before there is offense IT STARTS WITH THE PASS OR A DIG...without that there is NO OFFENSE... so i think a libero is just as deserving of any top award as a middle blocker, an outside hitter, or a setter.

And this is coming from a libero. ok this is coming from a libero as well and i think if a libero is making an impact on a team, such as asuka, they definately should receive recognition. just because hitters score points doesnt mean they are even more deserving...as many people said YOU NEED TO START IT WITH A PASS..its absolutely fitting for asuka to get POY its about time for us liberos to get some credit!
