John Cook: "All I said, and you can quote me, is ‘The ball was out. Nice match,' and then he (McLaughlin) started going off with language that would probably not be approved by the NCAA," Cook said after the match.
In the heat of the moment, you never have time to craft a witty and condescending remark to a sore loser like John Cook. Let's say you DID have a little bit of time to come up with a good answer. Some of my suggestions are above, or come up with one on your own.
MODERATOR NOTE: I've merged all the separate cook/mclaughlin standoff threads into this one, save the game thread. I think two threads is more than enough to cover the event

"There, there John. Don't be so hard on Werth's serving. She's still a very good player."

you left out "up yours with a rubber hose" I believe the correct phrase is "Up your nose with a rubber hose" You are correct, but that was from the 70's. Mine is right for now!

Cook should have just gone with the Pete Carroll classic..."what's your deal"..... then McLaughlin could have just gone with the Jim Harbaugh smirk that say it all....(hey, sore loser, you're an effing idiot and you just got punked....")

Dang, that (in all seriousness) woulda been a GREAT response. And it probably woulda diffused the whole situation. Get on with your bad self for that, it was awesome. I feel badlly now for all my jokes on the whole argument thingy.

Call me lazy but I don't feel like digging through the thread. Can someone summarized what exactly happened and what the immediate responses were? All I know was that Cook said something and they got into it. Molto grazie.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw the picture and wanted to know what happened, when it occurred, and how bad it got.

There was a bad call by the line judge at 27-26 set point Nebraska. The ball was clearly out but the line judge called it in. Washington went on to take the next two points to win the match. During the handshake, Cook said "That ball was out. Nice match". McLaughlin didn't like that and had some choice words for Cook. They ended up having to be separated by officials and security.

Thanks. I read some stuff about the call on here so I figured it had to be about that.
