It's pretty complex....but I'll try to explain it to ya.... You have light on one side...an object in the middle..and the shadow on the other side... Now walk outside and test this out....preferrably in a busy intersection. (If they actually have those in Nebraska). Wow...talk about a mouth....and you guys are up in arms about Cooks lack of class? If it would make you stop whining about this drivel....I would even go McLaughlin style and drop a few f-bombs on your head....LOL.....lighten up hh ;D

Sullivan did not claim it was doctored. He said he saw it a foot out and that if you look at the video, it stops as if the ball landed in but you can clearly see the shadow out. Right or wrong, he is convinced it was out.

I don't understand the shadow from the ball . Why is it so far out. That is my only perplexion about the video? It's pretty complex....but I'll try to explain it to ya.... My biggest problem with the pro-JMAC posters has been, Cooks behaiviour prompts "jerk" JMac "overreacted" I have the same reaction to the posters that have, from my reading of their posts, seemingly excused JMac's response. I think they are confusing an explanation -- John Cook's initial comments may well explain JMac's reaction -- with an excuse. I don't think anything John Cook allegedly said excuses JMac's behavior (just as the call in no way excuses Coach Cook's behavior). But some posters appear to believe that John Cook's words somehow excuse JMac's behaviour. I don't. As someone e-mailed me, in law, "words alone are never enough" to justify retaliation -- though in this case, there does not appear to have been any direct physical contact. And let me be clear -- I have never met either John Cook or JMac, but when I've seen John Cook on TV, or heard him interviewed on the radio, he has rubbed me the wrong way, and I can't really put my finger on what it is. I only state that to make clear that I'm neither a John Cook apologist or fan. In any event, my own view is that even if one assumes John Cook spoke with the most sarcastic tone imaginable, obviously calculated to communicate to JMac that he, John Cook, didn't think Washington deserved their victory, I still don't think that in any way excuses JMac's reaction. So, bottom line, from what I have read and seen (and I'll freely admit I may have missed something important) I think both Cook and JMac behaved abominably. I am not, however, among those that think JMac should have apologized in the post-match press conference. I think it would have detracted even further from the match itself, and the accomplishment of his team, so he was, IMHO, right to keep silent on that point at that time. I do think, however, that he should have issued a statement later (maybe he has, and I missed it) saying something like "As many of you know, Coach John Cook and I had some words following the match. I regret my part in that encounter, and I want to apologize. I hold Coach Cook and Nebraska in the highest regard, and regret that the encounter has become a distraction from what has been, and will be, a great NCAA Volleyball Tournament." Coach Cook should have limited his post-match remarks to pretty much the same tone.

The fact that Cook and Sullivan are STILL whining about the call is reason enough for people to tell them to bleep off.

I recall when Greichaly Cepero was in the news for an issue with a football player. Cook forced her to apologize in a press-conference. Tears ensued, and she apologized for her actions.
Why isn't Cook apologizing for his actions which were far less common than underage drinking among college kids?

No wonder the USA Men sucked ass when Sullivan was the starting libero. The dude couldn't figure out whether the balls were gonna land inside or outside the court lines.
Oops. Did I just type that? Dang, sometimes my fingers forget the difference between those inside-your-head-thoughts-that-you-keep-to-yourself and the outside-your-head-thoughts-that-you-share-with-everybody.

There was a bad call by the line judge at 27-26 set point Nebraska. The ball was clearly out but the line judge called it in. Washington went on to take the next two points to win the match. During the handshake, Cook said "That ball was out. Nice match". McLaughlin didn't like that and had some choice words for Cook. They ended up having to be separated by officials and security. From all the responses in this thread I take the most from this post above. There is an old adage in sports when a controversial call occurs that it is "somehow" confirmed by the very next play. Since this ball was questionably in or out, the next point--in fact next two points were scored by Washington, thus, thoretically verifying the correct call had been originally made. Until I saw Cook's face in this video I wouldn't know him if he was standing beside me so I have no stock in either team but I think one rally does not a match make. Anyone who would bring up the subject about one questionable point that happened earlier in the match--other than the very last point must not have had his head in the total match anyway so was looking for excuses for his loss. BTW the ball was IN.

you folks are getting out of hand now. How do you know Cook hasnt apologized to the appropriate people? Im fairly certain he doesnt owe an apology to volleytalk, or a newspaper. I think there is a difference between disliking someone, and wanting to dislike someone, and or looking for any reason to dislike someone. Certainly there are many here who do indeed fit that discription.
