Ireland Real visited Stanford this past weekend. Source is a parent of a player on the team. I would imagine social media will confirm this in a day or two.

Full bios are also now on the roster. I noticed both of Etzler's parents played volleyball in college.

It’s on her instagram as what blue22 mentioned. By 2027 (correct me if I counted it wrong), we’ll have a senior Blyashov and Kurt, junior Demaria and a sophomore Udoye by then… those 4 will provide Stanford with enough firepower at OH spot to stay in contention for the NC but Real is a gem and will be an upgrade, I think.

Elliot from Texas shared a really cool and clever story on his Instagram regarding the city of Austin. It’s the kind of content Hambly should be posting too. I don’t know why Hambly does not try to use Instagram to his advantage

I know listening to Elliot isn’t.

I know listening to Elliot isn’t. I agree that I don't think social media is Hambly's vibe and also not the vibe of Stanford athletics in general. I don't necessarily see it as a negative. We've seen how players at schools like Nebraska and Texas are constantly bombarded by so much negativity and hate and some very scary stuff. Harper Murray shared recently how there were random men were waiting at her gate when her plane landed in Chicago for Big 10 media day. She had not shared any info about her travel plans at all on social media. It can also take a huge toll on a player's mental and emotional health that can be very detrimental to 18 and 19 year olds. At Stanford, the athletes are known but are for the most part left out of the craziness that other players experience. If an athlete wants to daylight as an influencer, then going to Texas or Nebraska is for sure a way to do that, but at a cost.

Real would most definitely be an upgrade, and hopefully Stanford is doing everything they can to get her in cardinal and white.

One of Stanford's biggest weaknesses last year was the lack of a strong out of system hitter a la Plummer or Kipp. Rubin is very crafty and smart but does not have the physicality to hit around a well-formed block (ie: Florida and Louisville tournament games). Kurt sometimes looked like she could be but was not consistent is that facet of her game. Harvey was not strong out of system.
My question: could Julia Blyashov or even Demaria be that hitter? They have good height at 6'3" and 6'4" but obviously are not proven as attackers at the collegiate level. I've said it before but I hope there's been considerable effort put into developing Blyashov. I always thought she was meant to fill Rubin's shoes as the next 6-ro OH, need her passing to coming along but she's the only OH in the pipeline I can see filling that role.

IMO Blyashov as a hitter and blocker reminds me somewhat of Alix Klineman. Obviously she lacks in-game reps, but in year one (2023 season) when she came in off the bench in a clean up role she looked pretty effective as an attacker. Regarding Blyashov's floor D and passing, I think we lack the evidence needed to form a strong opinion one way or the other. I believe she played 6-ro on some of the USA teams which would imply she has some skills in the back row.
