It's possible she was to graduate after this semester, and has already accepted a job offer for Spring 2021 à la Wilson. Or even if she doesn't have a job lined up, I don't think she's on scholarship (right?) so she'd have to pay for two more quarters of Stanford schooling, plus housing. Not cheap. That would make a lot of sense. I would try to graduate early too if that is the case. We sorry to see them leave so soon. Good luck.

Pretty sure Formico was on scholarship. 14 players until recently and we know two were walkons to be Frosh

Could Formico be foregoing the indoor scene to move onto the beach? Or is she DONE done with VB?
Also, with the loss of her, what could the lineup potentially look like?? I kind of wouldn't mind the idea of McClure taking over the libero position with the pins we have as well as her level of experience. Hear me out,
So McClure could pull a similar move like Scambray did for Washington a few years ago, Scambray, all around player but undersized and not the most efficient of attackers, meanwhile she had Schwan and Bajema? (Can't remember, but that year was riddled with injury.). Also, since McClure is the only player returning the 6-rotation experience and our two new DS/libs have had no summer training with staff, we may have to rely on all that we have which is McClure. \ Who will swing on the left? My vote is for Berty and Kipp. Kipp for obvious reasons but now Berty, the three matches she played in last year, she lit up the stage and really stepped up when the team needed it most, I love that. Now will any of the two play all around, if they do, it'd be Kipp. Not sure on her reception but I know it was worked on hard before covid and she made a real nice impression at USAV tryouts, so thats something.
Who will swing on the right? Fidelak, lefty and has waited in the wings for quite some time, I think she could bring a new dynamic to the offense being a lefty. She's another one that stepped up big for the squad this season too in a match or two.
If Fidelak and Berty were to be subbed out, that's where I would bring in the incoming freshman and that can maybe acclimate them to the college game.

On the zoom Hambly said Oglivie was the Libero. Period. Of course probably 6 months before a game will be played
Kipp on the right and won’t need the back row help Formico have Fitz

I fully expect Baird to start on the left along with McClure. Hambly did say Oglivie was slotted as libero already.

Dang, first Wilson and now Formico. Only three upperclasswomen, out of thirteen total.

Oglivie will be libero and her passing will be strong. Floor coverage will be work in progress but she's got time to get it together. Lougeay will be DS and she's also a good passer. My only concern is that there's zero depth. Hopefully everyone stays healthy.

How's the transfer portal looking? I know it's not something Hambly usually gets into, but the roster is thinning out.

I wouldn't expect any undergrad transfers but there will be more grad transfers than usual, so if there's any good passers who will graduate in December, there might be a chance (although applying for grad school at Stanford is no joke).

Pretty much all of this is wrong. Explain how ALL of this is wrong?? I think they are just saying that this is not an ideal lineup with the roster Stanford has. McClure will be on OH her senior year and she should be, she’s the most experienced offensive returner in the front row (only her and Campbell). Also, Baird was the no. 2 recruit in her class, berty was like 97, I know that doesn’t say who’s better but Baird was purposefully redshirted by hambly and he chose to use berty when we needed an OH, he wouldn’t wanna burn bairds redshirt. When they were both playing 18s, Baird was sizably better all around. This would leave Kipp to most likely be oppo which currentLy is her strongest position even though she’s been working as a transfer to the OH. Oglivie is a very good ball control player and likely has better serve receive than McClure anyways. It’s not necessarily right or wrong, but your post is definitely a unique outlook.

Plus Hambly said last week mostly who would play where. He was quite clear other than we will see a lot early of L Smith. A starter? Or with Vicini alternating???
Berty played sand thus lower ranked but was also California player of the Year.
Hambly has been very praiseful at chalk talks about Baird

So there's that...
