Okay, I guess, but I'd argue that prooooobably wasn't necessary. I don't know - I just like her demeanor and how she always looks like she is listening to her teammates. Also her hair. I agree, she does seem to be very engaged. And great hair. I also love her hair can we just talk about how great her hair is? It’s more interesting than vball Rn anyway lmao

I don't understand this talk about Campbell. She had a pretty successful freshman season capped off with a stellar performance against Nebraska in the championship game. Her overall numbers may not have been what fans hoped for in her sophomore season, but everyone is forgetting that she moved from M1 to M2.
Since Campbell is obviously better off one foot behind the setter, it made sense that she'd occupy the M1 while Alade (who couldn't hit a slide to save her life) would take the M2 spot. But with the arrival of Gates, who's even better behind the setter than Campbell, it made sense to move Campbell to the M2. Unfortunately, that meant more sets/hits off two feet in front of the setter. That's not her strongest skill, but if you ask me, she still did a very commendable job!
If the reports are accurate that both L. Smith and Vicini (who seem most poised to challenge for starting spots) are a little better in front of the setter, then I fully expect Campbell to move back to the M1 where she can run the slide more often. Campbell has two full seasons and two championship rings, so she'll be on the court. If anyone beats her out of a job, then by God they've earned it (and that means they're playing damn good).

I'm not sure anyone was downing Campbell. Just hoped she shined a little brighter than last year based on the Nebraska match. Not that she was bad, just didn't need to phenomenal. Maybe this will be her breakout season.

Yes we do about Kipp. Bigger question is does Hambly. Hope so because we probably all think Kipp moves to the left when McClure moves on Wonder who the better passer is KK or Baird? Would Hambly ever consider 4-person serve receive? Men's teams do it sometimes more because of how fast jump serves are coming at them (hence Speraw liking Anderson as an opposite that can pass). But with a freshman libero and McClure the only returning passer, why not reduce the size of seams with these passers. I think it would be successful for them if gave it a whirl.

Formico is such a huge loss for our serve receive so this could be a possibility, but 3 passers covers plenty of the court. McClure and oglivie will both pass 6, and then I’m assuming either Baird or Kipp Weil have a ds but not both, if Kipp has a ds while Baird is front row I could see a possible 4 person receive but only for like a rotation of two, Baird could take the line straight onto the left side (similar to vanjak in 2016)

It might decrease the size of seams, but it would also add a seam. With only one returning passer, they would really need to stress communication during serve-receive to be successful with a 4 person reception.

It would only be a benefit if your fourth best passer is strong enough not to immediately be the target. Typically, if that's the case, she's not your fourth best passer. I'd expect Hambly to use show and go before he tries 4 passers.

Anybody follow Vicini on Instagram? Is she wearing a surgical boot? I just noticed she’s wearing two different shoes. It’s her latest picture with Kipp.

I haven't posted in a few months. But I noticed a very serious topic that I felt I should way in on. Holly Campbell truly has amazing hair. Reminds me of Keri Russell in "Felicity."
When Russell cut her hair in Season 2 or 3 (I can't remember which), the ratings plummeted.
Holly, please don't cut your hair.

I love it when she nods enthusiastically between points, and her hair bounces equally enthusiastically.

Campbell's hair in a braid caused at least 2 net violations last year--I think Nebraska and .... I forget which other game. When she went to block and ducked her head as her arms shot over the net, her braid boinged over her head and hit the net. Bang-bang plays, the refs didn't see it was the hair that made contact and called nets on her. Stanford didn't challenge either call, but if they had I think the points would've been reversed. Anyway, afterwards, I noticed she no longer seemed to wear it in a braid and rather did the frizzy Keri Russell look. Guessing when Hambly went back to watch it on tape, he was like "oh, crap, your braid."

Suppose that Stanford challenged those wrong "net" calls against Holly and that the ball was hit out of bounds by the attacker from the other team. What would be the proper call on the reversal: point Stanford or replay? If there had been a soft block and continued play was interrupted by the wrong call, I can see why the reversal should be a replay. But if the ball was hit out of bounds, shouldn't Stanford get the point?
