Very intriguing. So she decommits from Princeton right before signing day, walks on at Stanford, and now she's transferring out after her first year? That's crazy. I never thought I'd see a player transfer "out" of Stanford without a degree in hand Here's my 2-cents worth. Kalissa's decision to sign onto Stanford, knowing that Miner was their first choice, IHO was not a good decision, knowing that she would be the "second" setter. Season starts, she is indeed the "second" setter. She doesn't like it. She opts out. Another bad decision (maybe) knowing that injuries in VB are real possibilities. I bet my bottom dollar that Princeton would not take her back. And Princeton isn't really a top tier VB program anyway. So what now? agree with everything you said. She got some bad advice from her people. Anyways, she’s too good to be a backup option. She’ll find a home with good academics and great volleyball. Or vice versa. Wishing her well.

That's a LOT of potential continuity over the next few seasons, but it's a huge IF as to whether these players stick around for that long. It'd be cool if that happens, but it could also create some big problems with recruits and scholarships. We know Rubin is coming in next season for 2022. Let's assume(?) Blyashov in 2023. Adding Kurt from Turkey in 2023 would be really cool (if not, and if players don't stick around, pin situation could get dicey). And Mendelson would've been nice, but oh well. But somewhere in all of this, I think Stanford needs another top MB...and somebody/anybody who can pass the ball. Rubin is an excellent passer, as is Blyashov. Passing may be a concern this year, but that should only improve over the coming years.

Way more than some controversy. But that was then. Well, yeah, it got a little messy. More to the point, that team drew huge fan support which I'm sure the school would like to recapture. As in volleyball, the talent gap between first tier talent and second tier talent has really narrowed and it's much easier to build a successful program without having a great history ala Connecticut and Tennessee. The whole Pac12 is an example, particularly Arizona, Washington and the Oregon schools in recent years.

Passing may be a concern this year, but that should only improve over the coming years. Passing should be better next season. And if everyone is able to play, we should have three good pin hitters, three good middles, and good setters. But Francis needs to develop from a middle to an OH and everyone needs to stay healthy. We haven't come close to having everyone healthy most of the season in the last two seasons (at least). All three middles have had long periods of being unable to play due to injury. (Vicini got a medical redshirt her frosh year, A. Smith was out most of this season, L. Smith has been out most of this season and the spring.) If the team can do that, we should have a good year in 2022. In 2023, Kipp and Baird are supposed to return for a fifth year. Has anyone heard whether Vicini plans to return for a fifth or sixth year? Baird for a sixth year? If Vicini returns and everyone is healthy, 2023 should be good too, though we'd need a good back up setter since Xu will have graduated. If Blyashov and Kurt join the team, we should be really good. (Assuming relatively few injuries. But we should have better depth to handle some injuries if Vicini, Blyashov, and Kurt are on the team. MB: Vicini, Smith, Smith; Pins: Kipp, Baird, Francis, Rubin, Blyashov, Kurt) IMO, 2024 is where it gets more dicey bc Kipp graduates and we don't know if Vicini or Baird will return. (We also don't know the injury situation or who will commit in the future.) Even if Annabelle and Leilah Smith are healthy and have developed into top middles, we'll need at least one back up middle unless Vicini returns. We'll also need at least one pin (RS) and preferably at least one more good back up pin unless both Blyashev and Kurt join the team in 2023. It will be Baird's and Vicini's last season (if they return for a sixth season). It will also be Oglivie, A. Smith, L. Smith, Tufuga, and Lougeay's last year (unless they return for a fifth year), so we'll need to have replacements for 2025.

So basketball not so important But good for her Nebraska does have some history in women's basketball; in 2009-10, led by Jordan Hooper, they very nearly went undefeated and finished 32-2. I believe that there was some controversy about the coach a few years later, at any rate she left. The sport may be making a comeback- they're 5-0 this year, and scored 113 last time out (not against UCONN). I think Madddy Kubik's sister played BB there. I think i know who you are referring to and I am sure she is not her sister or even relative.

Well yesterday was a good win and they haven’t had one of those in a minute. I think this team could really cause some trouble in the tournament along with a few others. They’ll get a low seed but are fully capable of knocking out a top 10 team if they play well. I feel the same way about teams like Oregon and Georgia tech, we could see a very surprising final 4 with the depth of talent in the top 20 right now

Is she for beach only or is she going to play indoor too? Tstreet commented under the post and said “couldn’t wait to support you on the sand and I future AVPs”. So I’m guessing beach only?

Getting into Princeton as a transfer would be impossible anyway IMO. They don’t tag your application “good at volleyball” in the Ivy. Depends. The recent admissions scandal made it pretty public. Many of the "selective" schools set aside as much as 25% at the bottom of each class for recruited athletes. Without those set-aside slots, the scandal would not have worked. It's the very policy that they were exploiting.
