fwiw, I saw a TikTok recently with the munciana 18 samurai team and their listed D1 commitments, the stanford logo was sitting above Spencer etzler. seems like she's at least verbally committed to the staff right now

You can Google Etzler and see a volley talk post that Hambly has been to watch her 5 times. I’m thinking this is the Libero not Greer or both

Stanford projected lineup next season? Any freshman making an impact? OH - Rubin, Blyashov MB - Francis, Andrew(Fr) S - Miner OPP - Harvey L - Oglivie Im excited to watch Andrew play, I believe her final two schools were Stanford & Wisconsin so she must be a talent Cawa taking a DS spot?

You can Google Etzler and see a volley talk post that Hambly has been to watch her 5 times. I’m thinking this is the Libero not Greer or both If we have Cawa and Etzler in our back row in 2025 that's a pretty good L/DS1 combo and I'd be pretty happy based upon video and the UA match. Not certain who would be playing L or DS1, but at least both appear to be very good passers. Etzler's setting from the back row looks better than Cawa's so that's a plus in her favor. Cawa joins the team in August 2024 and looks to be our DS1 for the season so we'll have a pretty good idea what she can do by the time the 2025 season rolls around and Oglivie is gone.

Going from graduating from Wingate University in 2022 to the Stanford Assistant Volleyball Coach less than two years later is insane.

Is she some amazing coach? How did we go from the likes of Cassidy Lichtman, Alisha Glass, and Courtney Thompson to this?

I don’t understand what is going on at Stanford. It’s none of my business, but this hire makes no sense to me unless it’s a budget thing, and that makes no sense to me.

She is the # 3 assistant at Stanford. Remember having three is A fairly new thing. Or ask about her Saturday at the Banquet
To me it’s having a young person learning then moving on or up

She is the # 3 assistant at Stanford. Remember having three is A fairly new thing. Or ask about her Saturday at the Banquet To me it’s having a young person learning then moving on or up #3 Assistants at other top programs Nebraska- Jordan Larson (One of the greatest American volleyball players in history) Texas- Cursty Le Roux (LBSU Asst, USA U19/NTDP Asst, 8 years Pro VB playing, WNT member) Wisconsin- Hickey (UW Tech Coordinator for 5 years then promoted to Asst, AVCA 30 under 30, USAV staff, UW player and captain) This isn’t to say the hire was bad, or even that she won’t end up being a great coach but it just is surprising to see someone with seemingly no connections to the school or high level playing/coaching experience.

Is she some amazing coach? How did we go from the likes of Cassidy Lichtman, Alisha Glass, and Courtney Thompson to this? Those were all great players, but none of them stuck around as coaches.

Some of the best coaches weren't great athletes.

Some of the best coaches weren't great athletes. Agreed. They were taught the fundamentals at a direct level. Broken down. The natural Athletes are great, but they don’t have to get it broken down sometimes Some of the best coaches I’ve met were not all world in their sport

This hire is a little mind boggling. It can't be a budget issue. There are still a lot of way better coaches who would agree to volunteer coach at Stanford, much less get any kind of paid position with benefits.
