Someone posted on the beach board that '26 Simone Roslon 5-11 OH from Mira Costa is headed to Stanford for indoor. Can anyone else verify? She is #28 on PrepDig for '26 and plays on the same Surfside 17s club team as Demaria. She is an undersized indoor hitter but also one of the top beach players in her class. Maybe Hambly is looking to convert her to libero like Oglivie?

Yes, she is going to bro for Stanford. Some say she’s a good beach player, but I haven't heard her name mentioned indoor for years. Looked at some video of her playing club and didn't find anything that indicates she'll be elite at the L position. Same thing as an OH. I hope she has a wicked serve.

During today's broadcast of USA vs. Serbia, sideline reporter Heather Cox said that Stanford recruited Kathryn Plummer as a setter, but then John Dunning converted her to OH out of necessity.
That's not the way I remember it.

I know she was a setter in club. But I thought she was always penciled in as a hitter at Stanford. (Stanford had senior setter Kelsey Humpreys and freshman Jenna Gray.) Before Hodson went out, Plummer was playing opposite. I guess I could dig into the history in this thread.

She for sure set and hit in club but I can’t imagine she was recruited exclusively as a setter - she wasn’t that great at it. I could believe she wasn’t recruited as a six rotation left side attacker though. I don’t think she played that position in any meaningful capacity between 15’s and when she eventually switched at Stanford.

She set in a 6-2 in club. But was recruited primarily as an OPP. I believe that's what she played in Stanfords early 6-2 experiment and USA teams.

I’m trying to find the article about their signing but I’m 99.999 percent sure she wasn’t recruited primarily as a setter

Plummer was never recruited to set for stanford and that was never the plan for her. She definitely had way above average setting skill for her size and physicality as a hitter - but she wasn't / wouldn't have been ncaa top 10 team material as a setter
