I think one of the most underrated additions to this team is Xu. She's a VERY capable setter. Stanford did VERY well last year, but I do think that, as people have pointed out, Stanford did go through some down play. I recently rewatched a number of Pac-12 and NCAA tournament matches and sometimes the most obvious issue for Stanford was the setting. I don't know if Hambly is the type to yank a setter, but Gray really isn't the most consistent setter out there. She's by no means bad, far from it, but I think that next to establishing a replacement for Alade, the setting is probably the next thing that keeps this team from REALLY being that unstoppable train like the PSU 08 team. Xu really does give Stanford a capable second option should Gray hit a bad patch. I wonder if Xu will be redshirted tho

But she does give Stanford a really good second option at setter (assuming she’s healthy).

KIPP selected as an OPP for the Woman’s JR. National Training Team. She is also listed at 6'6" now? The last two times I've checked, she was 6'4" then 6'5" - will she ever stop growing?? That caught my attention also. Does USA verify the height or simply take the info from the player’s application. I saw Kipp at tournaments spring 2017 and 2018. IMO she was 6’5” both those years. My guess she is still 6’5” and was done growing more than a year ago.

She is probably 6'5" based upon last time I saw her standing next to Kevin Plummer waiting for their flight to SoCal the morning after Stanford's NC win, but I doubt 6'6". IMO the YNT heights were inflated a bit. At that height and wingspan and with good lower body muscle mass she has all the tools needed to wreak havoc collegiately.

Jenna Gray (it's not Grey, fyi) is a very good setter, one of the best in the NCAA. Sure, she has the luxury of setting the Stanford hitters, but she still has to do her job, which she obviously does very well. Hambly could consider redshirting as many freshman as possible, having them in the gym with Stanford's A team could bode well for them individually and for the team in 2020 and beyond. Also, finally Plummer does not win an award she is up for haha, the Honda Cup went to Rachel Garcia of UCLA Softball.

Consolation prize: She's named to the Pan American Games roster. Girl just can't catch a break can she?

I would suggest that in winning the Sullivan Award, she made her own "break"!

Wilhite, Kingdon, and Rolfzen are better suited to the OH position so they should get the majority of the play there.

Here is a "shout out" to: Audriana Fitzmorris; Madeleine Gates; and Meghan McClure for being named to the World University Games in Naples, Italy; three of fifteen Cardinal so named.

I don’t know if Gray is underrated or overrated, but it’s interesting to me that the only first team AA hitter she’s set since Inky graduated is Plummer. Plummer is a GOAT type talent, but it’s not like she’s setting Hodge and Fawcet and Harmotto and Brown.... or Pavan and Larson and Houghtelling and Stalls... or Barbosa and Klineman and Alinradewo, etc. I mean, she set them to a title with *Vanjak* as an OH....
