The smaller lineup can work fine, as it did against USC, if the passing allows the setter to run all the offensive options. The loss of Kanani next season could really effect the Hawaii passing, and smaller teams don't do as well when the sets are high out of system balls to the outside.

Next year's Hawaii team won't be small. Other than Uiato they will line up 6+ across.

I agree the more experienced line-up is a great line-up when everything is working... I really don't think the taller line-up with Adolpho would have done better against USC...

Maybe a bigger block could have slowed or bothered Jupiter more towards the end of the match. But it's hard to say though, b/c she really was on a tear at that point. Pepp tried triple-blocking Jupiter, but she still found a way to get kills. It was just one of those weekends where a really good player is feeling it...

Hawai'i needs Hartong in the middle the most. That's where she is most effective. Satele was fine on the right. She's more effective than Hartong on the right. All this moving around of Hartong isn't gonna help her achieve her potential. Adolpho had her moments, but she is by and large, inconsistent. If the lineup of Danielson, Croson, Satele, Hartong, Hewitt and Maeda wasn't enough to defeat USC, I would hardly think benching Satele, switching Hartong on the right and putting Adolpho in the middle was going to help matters. This was USC, not Boise State.

I don't think the bigger block would've helped, because Hewitt was already shutting Jupiter down and from set four till the end Jupiter made the proper adjustments against Hewitt and the rest of the Wahine...from then on she became unstoppable...

I definitely agree that Hartong belongs in the middle and that's where she is the most effective...but if the Wahine does need another passing left side next season I see her being the only other option...there is no one on the current roster that can fill that role for the Wahine other than Hartong...whereas in the middle we'll have Adolpho and hopefully a healthy Tuaniga that can replace Hartong, not to mention Vorster coming out of her redshirt season... The ultimate line-up would to keep Hartong in the middle if Shoji can find a transfer to partially fill the void by Danielson...but if he can't than Hartong is our only option to move to the left side so the Wahine can have at least a third passer in our serve receive formation...

Let them have their fun as these people have no real life. I think the "no real life' description applies to all of us here on VT, or most of us anyway.
