I suppose we are just waiting for all of the contracts etc. to be signed. Perhaps this week we will see a news release. I am very excited about these two assistants-very young and talented- and perhaps could be the heir-apparents for the Badgers in the future.

all american! www.niuhuskies.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/121411aaa.htmlhere is what I want...her to transfer to Big Ten/Big 12/Pac 12 school and see how she pans out. I have always wondered about players like this that tear up a "crummy" conference and get all American recognition. If all american awards are for the best "x" number of players, this girl will again be an all american where ever she goes.... another MAC player I wondered about was Ellen Herman. She was a total stud and I'm sure could have tore up a big time conference even being undersized... The MAC isnt a crummy conference by any stretch of the imagination. Name one all american in the past 6 years that was from a crummy conference. Well, I suppose this depends on your definition of "crummy," but here are a few: Tyler Henderson, Tulsa Bre Payton, UNI Lucy Charuk, Houston Kim Maroon, Villanova Regina Thomas, Mississippi Anna Cmaylo, Santa Clara Danielle Hepburn, Clemson Hui Ping Huang, St. John's I'm pretty sure you could add any Hawaii All-American to this list, as well (unless the WAC is considered a strong conference to you).

None of these would be crummy conferences in my opionion. Half are from BCS conferences for petes sake. Were these AA's or honorable mention AA's? Because that is a helluva difference as well. Trust me, there are some CRUMMY conferences out there, these arent any of them. Some of the conferences out east and in the south are crummy, the ones listed arent great.

Here is a good case where I would NOT give the release!!!!!! She should sit out a year.... No way would I release her. NIU isnt a prep school. She essentially said, "youre the best program that offered, but now that my stock has risen.......SEE YA. You wanna go big time? Sit out a year, and then have at it.

How was Wicinski ranked out of HS? Was she even on the radar?

The message Wicinski just sent her teammates disgusts me. "Im too good to be here"

So the coaches who recruited and developed her (and likely pointed out her success on their resumes) are by all accounts bailing on NIU to head to Wisky. But she should sit out a year for doing the same thing? Yeah, that seems fair.

I am all for granting releases when proper but this one is a doozy and she should sit out a year. And frankly, I would not WANT this player on my team.

And how are the circumstances different? Coach(es) leave mid-major program for B1G program. Player wishes to leave mid-major program for big program. One is just dandy, and the other one is an affront to human decency? How does that work?

We were thin at OH to start, now this, brutal. If Wicinski winds up at Wisconsin, what the hell is Pete Waite thinkiing. he coached at NIU befiore Wisconsin, has he no pity? If the rumor is true that the pair is going to UW, it's not like he forced them to go there. Every coach looking at other jobs has to consider the consequences of moving to a new program. If true, this would really be a blow to NIU, one of my favorite teams (I am a sucker for the MAC, in volleyball and football).
