Turkey up 2-1. Neslihan with 17 kills hitting .361 and Kim with 12 kills hitting .258 (how high our standards for her are!) Korea's reception and setting are also weaker.
If Turkey closes this out, things will get VERY interesting in the table.

Turkey leads 8-6 in SET 5.
Brazil's hopes of making the Quarterfinals may be slipping away. If Turkey pulls this out, the standings will look like this:
1 - USA (9)* 2 - CHINA (7) 3 - KOREA (7) 4 - TURKEY (6) 5 - BRAZIL (4) 6 - SERBIA (0)*
Serbia and USA have not played.

Assuming USA sweeps Serbia, the standings will be: 1 - USA (12) 2 - China (7) 3 - Korea (7) 4 - Turkey (6) 5 - Brazil (4) 6 - Serbia (0) Final day match-ups are Korea-China, Turkey-USA, and Brazil-Serbia. IMO, USA will take out Turkey and avoid the drama, but if Turkey even forces a 5th, we will get some interesting tiebreaks. Does anyone know if Match W-L goes ahead of Set ratio? Match W-L could put China-Korea loser behind Brazil in a tiebreak scenario.

Turkey wins it on a pipe! Interesting! Brazil will have to beat Serbia and needs help from the United States to beat Turkey to make the medal round.
The ONLY other way Brazil can get in is if they sweep/3-1 win over Serbia, and China is SWEPT by Korea (because of the tie-breaker rule).
China, who has 7 points right now, could see itself sitting out on the medal round.
Korea has a better set W - set L ratio, and I think they have mathematically guaranteed themselves a spot in the Quarterfinals.

Yes, match W-L goes ahead of set ratio. Are you talking about head to head or overall W/L? FROM the NBC website If, at the end of the preliminary round, two or more teams have the same number of points, their rankings are decided as follows: 1) The number of sets won is divided by the number of sets lost in all matches played within the group. 2) If the tie still is not broken, the number of points won is divided by the number of points lost in all matches within the group. 3) If the tie is still not broken, the result of matches played between the tied teams is taken into consideration.

Set ratio! How exciting. But the real salient question is whether Turkey can pull something out against a USA team that has already won the pool. I don't think we will let up, but you never know!

It sounds to me like match W/L means nothing. The only thing that matters is points, then set ratio.
So here are the set ratio's -------------------------
Korea - 7 points - 9 sets won, 7 sets lost China - 7 points - 8 sets won, 8 sets lost Turkey- 6 points - 9 sets won, 8 sets lost Brazil - 4 points - 7 sets won, 10 sets lost
They're pretty close, it's gonna be a tight race...

According to the London 2012 Explanatory Guide Volleyball: After all the pool matches have been played, the rankings in each pool will be determined by the total number of match points. If two (2) or more teams are tied after all the pool matches have been played, the following tiebreakers will be used: –– Number of victories. In case of equality of ranking points gained by two (2) or more teams, they will be classified in descending order by the number of matches won. –– Set quotient. If the tie persists, the teams will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of the number of all sets won by the number of all sets lost. –– Points quotient. If the tie persists, the teams will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of all points scored by the total of points lost during all sets. –– If a tie persists between two (2) teams, the priority will be given to the team that won the last match between them. –– If a tie persists between three (3) or more teams, a new classification of these teams will be made taking into consideration only the matches in which they were opposed to each other. The first four (4) teams in each pool will advance to the quarter-finals, from which point the competitions will follow a single-elimination format. The four (4) winning teams in the quarter-finals will qualify for the semi-finals. The winners of the two (2) semi-finals will play for the gold and silver medals, and the losers of the two (2) semi-finals will play for the bronze medal. The losers of the quarter-finals will be tied for fifth (5th) place in the competition; the teams ranked fifth (5th) in each pool will be tied for ninth (9th) place in the competition; and the teams ranked sixth (6th) in each pool will be tied for 11th place in the competition. I'm not an olympic volleyball expert, but Edmond which one do you think is right? In past experience, is match W-L ahead of set ratio?
Is the NBC website incorrect?
