I'm with jasonr. Brazil histrionics start long before the match score is 3-0. However it will reach it's crescendo at 25-19 match point to USA. Davis has made up for subpar performance in the early matches and will be a key early on tomorrow. Would be nice to see a dominating match by Tom. Not saying she hasn't been strong, just would like to see her in holy terror mode one last time in the Olympics. I wouldn't expect any sudden terminating from Logan, but I was impressed by her spike to finish the Korea match. Stepping inside to drill a right-side set is not easy even for opposites. If you think mental toughness is the answer (which I don't), Logan is the queen.

I don't know what the keys are in this match. This isn't as good a Brazil team as the one in '08, and the US is stronger, but Destinee and Harmato are rookies--a special problem since this team relies on Hooker probably too much. She can disappear and still plays in-and-out defense. It's most likely pretty easy. If the US can pass and involve the middles, I predict they win in three. That's a big "if". Maybe it's defense and blocking. As others have mentioned, Brazil can self-destruct, and nothing causes that more than strong blocking and pesky defense.

Do you guys want to see an epic final that could rival the Athens 2004 edition or the US winning in 3 with Brazil choking in every set? Just curious...

Do you guys want to see an epic final that could rival the Athens 2004 edition or the US winning in 3 with Brazil choking in every set? Just curious... I want to see an epic Gold win for the USA, which is why I was very disappointed when Russia got knocked out. I was looking forward to seeing a real slugfest between Tom/Akinradewo/Hooker and Sokolova/Goncharova/Gamova, with tons of kills and monster blocks. There's no doubting Brazil has the potential to put up a serious challenge and win, but I wouldn't be surprised to see USA put in a pretty convincing 3-0 or 3-1 win. In terms of promotion of the sport, though, I think the numerous energetic Brazilian fans in the stands will play well on TV.

Today will be a especial day for volley ball lovers. All brazilians watching the game, despite USA is favourite and everybody here says that i believe that will be the best game in olimpics. We love logan, hoocker and daniela scott and if US wins we'll be happy with silver. But Brazil is playing like i never see before with happines agressive . Good look for both us. If you want something about brazilian volley ball just ask me. Sorry for my english is not so good like yours.

My BP is spiking already just thinking about the match. Looks like I'll be drinking...don't worry I'll make the afternoon acceptability threshold by a whopping half hour. Phew, because then what would people think??

Does anyone think Brazil was playing possum during pool play? All I can remember is Doug Beal talking about Brazil's thinking use to be very tough to beat a great opponent twice in the same event, so would not always try to win against the team they assumed would play in the playoffs. Just don't see how they turned it on all of a sudden in the quarters and finals. Anyone want to alleviate my concerns? Possum includes trusting that Hugh was too sportsmanlike to dump 2 sets to knock them out of the Olympics during pool play? Then qualifying 4th insuring the toughest road back to gold medal match? Sounds like the worst strategy since Hitler decided he could defeat the UK, France, and the US while simultaneously invading Russia. Then again, Hitler had late stage syphilis, I'm hoping Ze doesn't share that affliction. The truth is, USA probably beat a tougher team today in terms of how they're currently playing. Korea runs a more sophisticated offense than Brazil while having best player in the world. Brazil is fairly standard, and while Thaisa is great, she can't win the match by herself and none of their other players are their former '08-'10 selves. Three words I didnt anticipate in this thread "late stage syphillis"

Even if it was an "epic slug fest" type of match given that it's being broadcast in prime time we won't get to see it as they'll probably chop it all up. Given that things are winding down I'm hoping we'll get to see more than I think, I mean seriously I went to bed last night as opposed to watching BMX biking. Sorry for those who love that.
