What's next for Team USA?
Who will be the next head coach? Karch?
Logan, Berg, Danielle, Haneef all retiring?
Akinradewo entering med school?

Reed did a decent job at the Pan America cup. Maybe he gets a shot?

So many variables, so many things in flux. Figuring out who the HC is going to be is key.
So lets say the rookies are all coming back.
Larson, Hodge, Akinradewo, Harmotto, CT, Yamashiro, Hooker.
Last cuts: Glass, Metcalf.
Not sure if Davis would come back. Not sure if Metcalf would either.
Losing Tom and Davis is HUGE, they'd helmed the backrow for a long time now. Berg and Tom's leadership are also going to be tough to replace. Note I didn't say setting or hitting, I said leadership.

Flo Hyman >> Caren Kemner >> Tara Cross-Battle >> Logan Tom >> A great team needs a great OH leader. Somebody has to step up and step into the role.

Hooker's fb: "So proud of this USA team. Thankful for the journey. God you are so good to me. Thank you for the support from the fans as well. This was our last game together God willing we will see each other again in 4 years. PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!!"

And where was TCB's leadership in Athens? Seriously, Tom led amazingly today and played her heart out. You can't blame her because Davis/Hodgson forgot how to pass and Destinee forgot how to set a block.

Tom for libero in 2016 From LA Mag interview with Tom about a month ago: Life after London: On her chances of going to a fifth Olympics, she says, “If I'm thinking about Rio, it's about a vacation.”

Who's blaming Tom for anything? I think she's the greatest OH USA has ever had. I'm just wondering who she'll pass the torch to. She's obviously on the down side of her career (not the hitter she used to be). As much as she was the clear leader of this team, she's no longer a go-to terminator who can take over a match like Kim, Sheilla or Gamova. TCB was all-world in the mid-90's but stayed for one Olympic cycle to many. Can't be a great leader if you don't have the game to back it up.

Does taking silver instead of gold translate into lost salary over the next four years for international contracts? Is the marketing advantage of saying you have an Olympic gold medal winner signed to your team enough to make teams bid higher for Brazilian players now than they would have if the US had won?
