If the women had won gold they would have showed the match in true prime time, but waiting until the end of the show, they showed that they were on the bandwagon while they were winning & as soon as they stumbled they pulled out. Shame on you!

They were never on the bandwagon.
It was filler for them -- and the filler didn't have the right ending today, so they cut it.
NBC doesn't know what to do with team sports. There's not enough down time for their Daggets to emote and too many players for them to bother to select one or two to tell a back story.
NBC's lazy. But, most importantly, they are uninterested in the sports. They want to tell stories -- which tells you who their target audience is.

Well, I can't fault them. It's a downer.
I went back to watching Moneyball after the men's 4x100 relay. I am too depressed to watch this. I don't take losses well.

I gotta say, thank god... I was at a delightfully convivial dinner party with Olympic coverage on a background TV, and I was terrified the replay would come on and our host would want to play it. I have never been so glad to watch detailed coverage of completely different sports than I have been this evening.

They showed the last half of set 1 and last third of set 4 - just over 3/4 of a set total. They said it was an "amazing turnaround," but didn't show it.

They never showed, nor mentioned, the scores of the 2nd and 3rd sets.

They never showed, nor mentioned, the scores of the 2nd and 3rd sets. Yet they showed almost the entire bronze medal match live. The history of WWII piece was obviously put together well in advance so I can't help but think that programming wasn't planned well before USA made the gold medal match. Maybe they wouldn't have shown so much diving(which was great given the outcome) had USA not laid an egg. Showing pieces of the sets don't help grow the sport in my opinion, it's what CBS used to do with the NCAA finals when they had the rights to it. Sigh!
