About as cogent of an analysis as I have read.

IMO, the loss of the gold medal in London was the last straw. I have no confidence in the women's team anymore. Our team tends to blow itself up in crucial moments of major tournaments. And I'm not only talking about the olympics, but the whole record of past tournaments like World Championship, World Cup and World Grand Champions Cup. The Grand Prix is another story, it's only a deluxe annual practice. Of course I'm going to keep on rooting for the team. But always a bit pessimistic - no matter how strong the team looks.

I feel the same way. Not being too pessimistic but Rio 2016 will be a whole lot harder for the Americans to secure the gold medal. Brazil will not only be the defending champions but they will also be playing on their home turf. That being said, USA still has a lot of time to prepare. I just wish most players who played in London will be back.

Good job Bev O. for your report on the women's gold medal match. Much better than what I read in the newspapers.
Fourteen years ago a reporter asked former Arie Selinger what he thought of the '88 team coached by Dr. Liskeyvch. I was taken back a bit for a few seconds when he gave negative criticisms(which is his perogative) but it was somewhat slightly thorny as if he was glad the '88 follow-up team failed. One would have thought he'd be more supportive - maybe he was but it didn't come across that way. Anyone else wondered what the previous coaches thought of the '12 team?

Good article and matches what I remember from 2012. Going to rewatch the Olympics matches one of these days.

Wow. Even reading this essay stings. Maybe it's almost time for me to rewatch this nightmare match!

I was there and got the dream match I wanted. Still can't re-watch this one considering I've re-watched the men's final numerous times.

The biggest question is......can the US win the gold medal in 2016? What worries me is the Americans passing game without Logan Tom, well if Logan decides not to return. I don't think the Americans can do it without Akinradewo, Hooker, and Tom.
