The event will honor Cal's Savannah Rennie, who is undergoing chemotherapy to treat Non-Hodgkin Post-Transplant Lymphoma. Rennie underwent a liver transplant last year after being diagnosed with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis with Portal Hypertension. First she's has a bum liver, then a transplant, survives that, comes back strong to compete and play.... and now CANCER? Poor kid can't catch a break. Kick its ass, Savannah.

Hey Cal fans, just wondering if Emma Smith is getting any playing time. How is she doing? She's a wonderful player....Hawaii's loss was your gain.... Started at Libero and has played well the past two matches (wins!) for the Bears vs. ASU and U of A. Had not seen the court much due to and a tweeted back before this weekend. Think she should have the reins of the opposite jersey for the foreseeable future. Great young woman and player. Glad to hear it. Thanks for the update!

I don't understand why Emma Smith is not playing libero. Is she injured? She is by far the best defender on the team.

That said there are other defenders that could step in and wear the Libero jersey and give Cal a better chance to compete and allow for less disruption throughout the lineup. Would think that allowing Kirtley, Knop or DeGuzman a chance would be sensible, permitting Alftin to swing, but she too is dinged up. They are trying things, but....

Alftin is playing libero today? Is she the third or fourth person in the libero jersey for Cal this season?

Has anyone heard of any 2019 or 2020 recruits? Rich Kern shows none so far for those years. I hope they have some and they are just being quiet about it....

With the departures of Dempi, Smith-Gooden, Alftin, Petiprin, Gaffney and DeGuzman, Cal's going to be a pretty young team next year in terms of experience.
S: Albrecht - 6-1 Sr Potter - 5-9 Soph Schuette - Soph Was really bummed that Chang decommitted and signed with UCLA, hopefully someone steps up next year. Either Albrecht sets a 5-1 or she runs a 6-2 with Potter. Didn’t get a chance to see Schuette much this year.
OH: Haynes - 6-4 Jr Mirkovic - 5-11 Soph Clark - 5-11 Fr Ahrens - 6-2 Fr Mirkovic probably retains her starting spot, with the others battling for the 2nd spot. It’d be interesting if Clark actually beats out Haynes/Ahrens with her all-around game.
Opp: Annevelink - 6-2 Sr Huizenga - 6-1 Jr Not sure what happens, but I was surprised Annevelink beat out Huizenga this year. I really liked what I saw from Huizenga last year.
MB: Rennie - 6-2 RJr Anderson - 6-2 Soph Forte - 6-3 RFr Hopefully Rennie gets healthy. Anderson was under-utilized this year despite starting every match. Curious to see what Forte can do.
L/DS: Kirtley - 5-8 Sr Smith - 5-8 Jr Knop - 5-8 RSoph I liked what I saw from Smith this season. Haven't seen Knop and Kirtley seems like a better DS than L.

Setting and floor defense are the keys to next season. Losing Chang was a major blow. I think they need to run a 5-1 with Albrecht to get some consistency going and use the middles some more. Speaking of middles, you missed Isabella Bergmark. She might start if Forte and Rennie still aren't healthy. I was even thinking they might move Haynes or Ahrens to middle since they are so thin at that position. I really wish we could get some certainty on the coaching situation as well. This is really dragging on.

I think it is only fair to her and truly deserving if she wants it.
