I know some of this was talked about in the Minnesota and Penn State thread, but I felt there is enough Minnesota Volleyball fans who are already looking forward to next season.
My thoughts and questions about next season. 1. Karlie Hauer impressed me yesterday, wasn't perfect but really did not hurt the team. She had a couple of nice digs and was solid in the back row. 2. I thought their serve receive was pretty good, and the digging was better then I had seen it in a while. (I can't compare it to Friday's game because I coach basketball and had a game) My question is will Bohl stay at libero 3. I am all for Tori Dixon staying in the Middle. Her blocking has improved and I think having a middle who can hit makes them more dangerous! 4. Can't wait to see what our Freshman can bring. I know replacing Harms will be tough, but I think they have the arms to do it. With essentially 2 open hitting sports to fill we have 2 Tapps, Wilhite, Mau and Hauer! What a battle that will be! 5. If Santana can keep playing at the level she finished the season at and keep improving look out! 6. I am calling it right now that Wittman will have as good or better senior season then Harms senior season. 7. Will the defense improve? 8. If Schau is what she is supposed to be, I would like to see what a 6'2 would look like 9. Do you think they will pick up any defensive walk ons? 10. I already can't wait!

Are you part of the team? I assume you are because you are using "us" and "we" when you refer to the team.

Problem with the 6-2 is that you don't have your opposite hitting from the back row. That's why I think the setters should sub for the middles in the back row. It also gives you two more spots for your OHs (two opposites needed).
Dixon needs to move to the opposite. I won't state this opinion again, because I know I'm boring everyone. But I did want it to be in this thread.
Who are your middles? You need to find some and that's in addition to Hannah Tapp (and Paige Tapp).

I also graduated from the University of Minnesota so I guess with all teams I feel like I am part of them, but I changed it to please everyone.

Haha It's absolutely okay to say it that way, especially when you graduated from there. I always say "we" and "us" with respect to Penn State's teams. We have this new marketing campaign called "One Team," and while I'm not a big fan of it, I use it as ammo anytime someone says "you're not on the team." We're all part of the same University, one way or another.

This is my lineup for next year if I'm coach. (Which I'm not) Just my preference. Tell me what you like about it and what you don't.
OH1- Daly Santana OH2- Karlie Hauer/Sarah Wilhite
MB1- Tori Dixon MB2- Hannah Tapp MB3- Paige Tapp
RS1- Ashley Wittman RS2- Hauer/Wilhite Emergency RS- Paige Tapp
Setter #1- Alexandra Palmer Setter #2- Katie Schau
Libero- Morgan Bohl (really started to look good plus a whole summer training solely as it will be an immense help!) DS- Lawmaster
Bench Riders- Mau, White, Lindstedt, Israel

DS- Lawmaster Bench Riders- Mau, White, Lindstedt, Israel I like this. I like Wittman on the right side. She seems to block pretty well. I would also say she could take some swings from the left when she is there in rotation like Harms did this year. I did think Hauer looked like she could be a good blocker yesterday though. So if it's Hauer I would maybe like to see her on the right, but if it's Wilhite I like Wittman on the right.

Are you running a 5-1 or a 6-2? Because that's going to have a huge impact on your lineup. Wittman can't be an opposite, for instance, if you're running a 6-2 with the setters back row for the opposites (and Hugh can't run his preferred offense).

As long as we're doing that, I would like to compliment Ariel Scott first and foremost, than Hancock, McClendon, Courtney next.

Why would Minnesota run a 6-2? None of the freshmen coming in are true opposites. They'll have enough trouble finding ONE replacement for Harms, much less two.

I feel a lot better about the back row defense next year with Bohl, Wittman, Santana, Palmer, and Schau back there.

Good use of the personnel as it now stands. But if Minnesota uses the 6-2, Schau's GOTTA be able to put up a decent block. And she's 5'9, so we'll see if she can.
