indeed, there is. no sermons, no long explanations, just the truth: this has spiritual dimensions and implications. but enough of that for now. all we can do at this time is pray for the survivors', families', and community's healing. so we do that. as for me personally? i've had it. had it. ENOUGH WITH THE GUNS. don't care about what history tells us about what happens when govts disarm the populace. don't care about the fact -- and it is a fact -- that some criminals will always have guns despite the illegality of it. don't care. we are sick. and sick people shouldn't be armed. ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN GUNS... Getting rid of guns will not stop people from killing people. I'm not sure what the solution is but I do know that life growing up today is much different than when I grew up in the 70's and 80's. We didn't have computers, iPhones, violent video games that are purchased for children today as gifts from their parents. I had a stay at home mother who had dinner on the table every single night and we sat down as a family. McDonalds was a once a year treat. Our society is so wrapped up with obtaining material things that for the most part...children are not being raised by their parents. They sit in front of a TV and watch violence on TV and play violent video games. The reality here is lacking and they live in a fantasy land. Why should I as a law abiding citizen have to give up my right to protect myself from some drug addict or crazy person that wants to break into my home or hijack my car? If you want to ban guns then we should look at banning knives, hammers, ice picks, axes, and even cars. All of these have been used to murder people. Doesn't Connecticut have some of the strictest gun control laws in the country? Dad, Charles Whitman went on his murderous rampage here in Austin in 1966.

What is your point?
So we shouldn't make it more difficult for things like this to happen? Why not let everyone own a small nuclear device?

A defining moment. The parents were all gathered at a fire station next to the school. The govenor was there and they were reuniting the children with their parents. At some point he had to stand up and said, (paraphase) If you have not been reunited with your child, you won't be. Can you imagine having to tell a whole group of parents that? Oh man. Such a Norman Rockwell type town. Just makes no sense.

ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN GUNS. x 27... Yes, we need to focus on the root causes. Yesterday, a person in China injured 22 children in an elementary school with knives. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_attacks_in_China_(2010%E2%80%932011)A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in the People's Republic of China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 21 dead and some 90 injured. Analysts have blamed mental health problems caused by rapid social change for the rise in these kind of mass murder and murder-suicide incidents.

Please VTers. Take the political gun control issues to the political thread. Let this be one for those who want to express their symphony with the families and friends of the innocent lives lost.
May somehow they find peace and calm their broken hearts.

Let this be one for those who want to express their symphony with the families and friends of the innocent lives lost. I understand the rules of VT, but the underlying concept behind this request is flawed. The idea that out of respect for the current victims we shouldn't talk about how to prevent future victims is one reason why we continue to have future victims.

May somehow they find peace and calm their broken hearts. Here is the sad and scary thing. How many families around the country have family members who they are worried about to the point they think that person could do something terrible to themselves and others?
