I know we only have one scholarship but I wonder who we have for 2014. IMO whatever position she needs to be a top passer. Can't have too many of them. As the last two years have shown us. 2011 we had it and made the NC. 2012 we didn't and didn't even make the tourney.

Your guess is as good as mine on the 2014 class, Smiley. The only name I've heard recently mentioned is Jaeyln Keene (MB/OH) from Jacksonville, IL. I'm sure the staff is still looking at a number of recruits but mum's the word in terms of specific players. Very much agree that passing needs to be a priority.

My guess is that the players that the Illini coaches wanted for 2014 have chosen to go elsewhere. The extra scholarship will be saved for the 2015 class that is shaping up to be very special!

I believe you're correct. Stahl and Frantti were two of their primary targets for 2014, but they have since committed to Purdue and Penn State respectively. Keene would be a nice addition - they need a strong middle and I think her ceiling is high.
With the addition of Poulter and Prince, I imagine other top recruits in the 2015 class will give Illinois more serious considertion. This should be a very strong class for Illinois, perhaps their best.

Illinois has as good of a chance as any to win the B1G this year and make a lot of noise in the Tourney. They do have a problem with MH's though. I understand that Dorn was hurt again last year; which would explain why she looked slow at the net. She still hit well though.
I wouldn't be surprised to see two new MH's in the line up and Katie Roustio to get significant playing time at the outside. They have a potential AA setter with Alexis as well. All will be for not if they don't get it together with serve receive and transition passing.
I have a ton of faith in Kevin's ability to get the most out of his team and believe last year to be an anomaly...GO ILLINI..!

Let's wait until we see some evidence of improved passing before we make statements like this... I also don't see Roustio playing ahead of Strizak. Having watched both play, I'd rate Strizak quite a bit ahead of Roustio at this point.

Exactly. The problem last year was the back row. Defense and passing. Upper D-1 passing is a whole different story tha club and HS. I have a hard time seeing true freshmen OH's come in and start. Inexperience defensively was the biggest problem last year.

It's possible to envision Illinois using this group as the launching pad to join the ranks of the programs (Stanford, Penn State, Texas et al) that year after year recruit and sign the truly elite players .

Birks?Stark? I agree they will be in good hands with Alexis but I dont see them replacing the OHs .Dont forget they still have Criswell also. I don't see Roustio winning a spot on the court as a freshman. McMahon, Birks, Stark, and Criswell are all ahead of her system wise, and Strizak can outplay her at either pin. She is going to get better and challenge the A team in practice. I'm not sure she's enough of a "killer" right now to warrant a spot on the court. Don't get me wrong, she's a good player and athlete, but she's got some learning ahead.

Isn't there a middle from Iowa who's still uncommitted for 2014? Her first name escapes me but her last name is Brown. I think she played on the same club team Eckerman played for.
