My wife and I want to see a couple movies (we have free passes.) Top of the list is "This is the End". Any others worth seeing? We liked Iron Man 1....is 3 worth seeing (if it's even playing anymore.) Despicable me 2 was also on the list. Help? I hate when I go to a movie and it stinks. We rarely go. Last movie we saw was "The Internship".....not impressed.

I enjoyed MU (not a sequel fan, but it was enjoyable). I surprisingly enjoyed The Heat. My mother and gf wanted to go. It was a bit like Miss Congeniality meets Melissa McCarthy's character from Bridesmaids, but still funny. I liked Iron Man 3, though it was nothing special.

I haven't gone to the theaters for over 4 years but watched all on blu-rays or cable.

I liked Despicable Me 2, but didn't like Monsters U. Can you tell I have a 7yo?
Just watched Side Effects. That's a really good movie, another one by Soderbergh. It's also proof that Rooney Mara's no one-trick pony. She's excellent in this.

Damn! I redboxed Side Effects and it laid around for 3 days (We've all done it) so I returned it. My wife didn't seem all that interested in seeing it but I had heard that it was good. What about Django Unchained?

If you like Tarantino, you'll like Django. It's a movie only he could have gotten away with making.

New Loan Ranger movie is terrible. I think I heard about that one. That's the new Wall Street movie, right?

What about Django Unchained? Good dialogue, but Tarantino is repeating himself -- and I just don't get his fascination with gore. Walz is really good.

Yes, that's one of the ways it's a movie only Tarantino could have gotten away with making.
I'd elaborate, but I don't want to be too spoilerific.

Well, and the language and the use of a certain word. He does write some great dialogue, however. The man can write (and direct).
(I'm not afraid to be spoilerific, plus it's been out there for a while.)
It's Inglourious Basterds Part II: The Deep South ...

Well in that case, I'll just say I don't think there's too many screenwriters that could have gotten away with their putative first supporting character being 100 times as interesting as their lead (whose name is in the title again?). Django really has no personality until late in act 3, and even then it's so corny. It's almost like a superhero origin story, and now we need the sequel for the superhero badass-ness (ever notice how superhero sequels are ALWAYS better than the originals?).
Schultz on the other hand is an intriguing and deep character. This one's not on the actors at all -- Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx are both fine actors. The "problem" is on the page.

original Iron Man was superior in every way to 2 and 3 though.

Yes, and interesting choice. Although the story is still about Django's arc, not Schultz's. The whole thing, of course, was set up to mirror Brunnhilde. For my money, both Walz and DiCaprio blew Foxx away. And I'm not sure that's entirely due to the script. What I found most disturbing was that the movie, at times, was on a level with the characters watching the Mandingo fights. Made me feel dirty watching it.
