I was really hoping she was considering UH especially with it's history of developing amazing short pin hitters but it is what it is lmao. not sure if this has been discussed already but good luck to her at usc!

Interesting. She does have some ties to current frosh OH Elise Ruddins/DS Taylor Whittingham from Laguna Beach volleyball club, maybe she just wanted to stay close to home. But I find it hard to believe that she will see any significant playing time throughout her career at USC. The Trojans are stacked, and I mean stacked, at pin hitters for the next couple of years. When she comes in in 2015, they will already have the RS locked up with a junior Nwanebu ('17) and a sophomore Brittany Abercrombie ('18), Sam Bricio ('16) will still be at the pin for her senior year, and then you throw two more good outsides in a junior Elise Ruddins ('17) and a sophomore Lauryn Gillis ('18). Add to the fact that she's around 5'10'', I really don't know. Is she good at defense/jump serving? Maybe a Geena Urango-type serving sub?
So unless one of those players redshirt, it seems like she'd be riding the pine for quite a while. But certainly she knew what she was getting into when she committed, maybe the USC connection was too good to pass up. Interesting get, but for now, welcome to Troy, Alyse!

She might be only 5'10 but boy can she jump out of the gym. She has started with Laguna beach 18'a even as a frosh and will be better than Elise Ruddins. She has a cannon of an armswimg and will only get better.

I have seen Alyse play many times. She is an exciting player to watch with her amazing vertical jump and fast armswing. As good as she looks at times in club play, it remains to be seen whether her success will translate to the college game in the Pac-12. She reminds me of Bria Russ who I had doubts would be an impact player at a top DI school.
I have seen Wallace-Ford struggle at times against a good block and dominate against a weak block. I would describe her passing as average at this stage. No doubt Haley has looked at Alyse more closely than I have and has made the decision she will be an asset to his team. I hope Alyse proves me wrong, stays healthy, and finds playing time at USC.

I don't see her playing much until her jr/sr year at SC, if at all. I think SC recruited her to keep her away from UCLA/ASU etc

There's no way she gets much playing time, if any at all, like you said. I hope she changes her mind. She would do really well at a program that runs a quick offense.

Literally none of her strengths translate to the USC system. What a waste.

Yeah, I think Anne Marie Schmidt will be the next libero for USC. I'm actually a bit surprised Mick didn't try and use her more this year, she's played in like 15 sets all season, or at least redshirt to preserve a year of eligibility. Learning under Hagglund is probably huge for her.
Also, would they even have a scholarship available in 2015 for Ford? I think that class would be the current juniors right now (Hayley Crone, Hannah Schraer, Emily Young). Weren't Crone and Schraer walk-ons the first two years? Schraer definitely was. And even with the talent they've recruited, surely Mick would have saved their lone 2015 scholie for a bigger name like a Hayley Hodson or some other highly ranked player even if they didn't need another pin hitter.

I agree....not a good fit in any way for her to be going to USC. Don't know the logic in it....i was thinking she was waiting for the Pepperdine coach to be announced.

Im sure Alyse is stoked to be joining USC by 2015. And I hope Hodson knows this. USC will be stacked!!
