As mentioned earlier, someone said a "mountain out of a mole-hill?" Mississippi State is in the SEC....Their volleyball is at the bottom of the bunch now, and has fallen to this level since their head coach has been there. The recruits the school had in the fall were good, along with some of the returning sophomores and ONLY one Senior. The coach has been there five years, and now she has four good players leaving to go to other schools to play. Obviously, Mississippi State does not emphasize volleyball and what is the story afore-mentioned about the assistant AD resigning? Was that really related to volleyball? I have seen MSU play a few times over the last few years. The players were NOT the problem, from what I could see. Any input?

Career 18-80 SEC record. 11 players leaving team over 2 years period. First 2 AVCA HM AAs in program history and they both leave. And still no mention of her being relieved of her duties? These are just the facts. Throw in all the rumors and the picture is bleaker than you can even imagine. This is bigger than a coaching staff issue, its a total breakdown of the Athletic Department administration. No this isn't Tennessee. Its much worse. I know MSU will never be a volleyball powerhouse, but as an MSU alum I expect more oversight and leadership than this administration is providing. It is tough recruiting to Mississippi state. Recruits are Not lining up to go there. Jenny gets the bottom of the barrel as most would rather go to any other school in the SEC. If you look at their schedule this year, they won all the games they were expected plus 1. All the teams they lost to made it to the dance and Auburn almost did. Ole Miss was greatly improved this year with a better setter and a libero coming in. They beat South Carolina which A&M lost to once. I think you may be too personally involved to be objective. No, this is NOT Tennessee and volleyball is not expected to do much better... Are you expecting them to beat Florida, Kentucky, A&M, LSU, Alabama or even Georigia? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Yeah, everything you point out is spot on. Hard to separate the head from the heart. The other piece is knowing personally a few girls that have been in the program and hearing their stories. The situation is not good and changes need to be made for the sake of the players as much as the program. Another point, look at the loses. Most are 0-3. It's not just losing. It's rarely even being competitive.

You are right, dude. What was I thinking? Actually, I was thinking that there were two HM All-Americans on the MSU team, and they also had some SEC players of the week. I am glad the players hit the road, is all. I guess everyone is right.... volleyball in Mississippi is non-existent. So.... recruits, beware? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

mclvbdad. Sorry to see that the program hasn't worked out for many of the girls. But how was MSU able to recruit some good players if they have not had a winning season for quite some time now?

Mississippi state has had a member of the all freshman team the last 3 years and they all left. I don't think you can say they she didn't recruit well, add what happened with the setter quitting in the middle of the season in 2012 and her response to it. You have to think that her ties to the AD are the only thing keeping her from getting fired.

Having good players is a requirement for winning however it does not guarantee success. Changing a culture of losing challenging.

A good get for Tenesse and a dumb move by LBSU!! Tenesse will surprise a few after the incoming class gets a year under it's belt. I am sure by now, they know what they are walking into and have decided it is a good fit. So watch for TN to make a decent comeback in a couple of years.

Since we haven't really seen her play, it's hard to say whether or not Taylor Johnson is a loss for Long Beach. However, with Juley apparently healthy, Johnson would have ended up watching for three years before getting a chance to play full time. Probably a good move for her.
I guess Long Beach is in the market for another setter since the heir apparent Claes decided to play sand instead. Or do they already have a freshman setter coming in?

Long Beach State has Missy Owens (6'2" Freshman) coming in and I believed she committed a little bit after Claes announced she was playing sand for USC. Also mentioned before was Jenelle Hudson (5'8" Junior) is transferring to Long Beach State from Iowa State. If Hudson does not start at setter, I can see her playing a DS role like she did during her freshman year.
