Haven't seen this on here yet but Nikki Brice, DS at Tennessee, is transferring to USC. I don't see her on the USC roster. Any idea what happened to her?

Michelle Lawrence did eventually surface on the Cal Lutheran DIII roster, where she is getting 4.06 kills/set, hitting .319 for the undefeated team, currently #2 in Div III polls.

Nikki Brice transferred to USC to get her masters degree as she graduated early from UT and is from California. As far as I know she's not playing ball there.

Looks like the kid might be ready to transfer. Should she seek a release during the season, don't know if I like that. Or is there enough time to find a new school before the spring semesters start? Anyone have any insights or experience with either approach? Thanks.

Anyone have any insights or experience with either approach? Thanks. A few details would help. For instance, is she D1 looking to go to another D1? Knowing her current situation and what she is looking for would help a lot without having to give away any specifics that could compromise her current situation.

D1 wanting to transfer to another D1. Sophomore with one game played early in the year, believe there might be a possibility of a medical redshirt. Hit right side last year but was recruited out of high school by colleges as a setter. Set all pre-season this year then not allowed to set in pre-season intrasquad scrimmage for the public. Total lack of communication, kids are scared to talk to coach. Strange circumstances. We are really pushing for her to transfer after several parents of starters approached us about our situation and shared some things we did not know about. According to our daughter and anyone else we thought might share she has not broken any team, school or NCAA rules. We have learned that picking a school and not a coach is not the best option.

need a release to talk, then a release to leave. If you leave in December and want a scholarship at your new school, the new school has to have a graduating senior to get her money. That is if her money has not already been promised to one of the current players not on scholarship.
Medical redshirt only if she is truly hurt. NCAA requires documentation from medical people. Not as easy as it sounds.
First step talk to the coach even if they are scared to talk to the coach it has to be done. (athlete not you) ask "what are your plans for me?" If you do not like the plans or the answer think it over, make another apt (maybe with parents in attendance) and ask for a release. Don't go in there pissy, coach gets put on defensive and it actually gets harder to get the release. Go through your club coach to talk to other schools.

At some point she will have to communicate with the coach and let her know what she is thinking; generally the sooner the better. I recommend you remember that the "grass is not always greener" when having these conversations.

I would not ask for a release until the season is over. No better way to piss of the coach than to quit during the season.

If you wait until after the early signing period, some options might go away.

You should not ask for your release until after the season is over. When the season is over she should ask for a meeting with the coach at his earliest convnience. Then she should respectfully say that she has decided that this is not the best fit for her, and she would like her release to pursue other options.
